Lights work on the FSX helocoptors and add on's?

Post by Zorro »

I don't even know if Helo's have landing lights. If they do will the lights work with the Bell 206? As a side question will they work on the Shockwave Spitfire also? Thanks

The lights are an 'effect' and will work with any AC. With the Redux pack you even have a choice of angled down landing lights for helicopters, one at 22 degrees or one at 45 degrees, you get the choice of which to apply to the stock Bell during the install process.

The lights work with the Spit too. Here's the line you need to add to the [Lights] section of the aircraft.cfg file.
  • light.3 = 5, -0.6, 8.1, -2.7, fx_Shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light

How do you get the 22 and 45 degree landing lights?

The normal landing lights direction doesn't work well with helicopters.

The angle is coded into the 3D light effect.

Hmm tried changing a slew of pitch values, then tried heading values without result, need to locate the SDK to see where I'm going wrong.

you need to change the light that the cfg is calling up. I don't remember exactly, but it should be added second to last, the angle of the light, you can also look in the effects folder for the light, and take of the .fx on the end and copy the text into the cfg file.

Yes I've already called a shockwave effect into the config, but unless there's an effect with a fixed angle (Can't see any that refer to angles) or the config has a variable other than x,y,z coordinates then it would have to be some value or values in the xml, just don't know which or what needs changing.
