Bombsite Version 2

Post by 46th_Terror »

Well I have just uploaded Version 2 of the bombsite that was created for FS2004. This version has been updated to work witht eh WOP B-17II for FSX. This gives you a basic adjustable bombsite for dropping bombs with in FSX. Note the bombs are not included. It has been uploaded to www.sim-outhouse.com to there FSX panels section. I want to give a special thank you to Rob for helping me as this project would have been dead in the water without him. Thanks Rob :)

Snuffy this version is diferent that what I sent your so you will probially need to redownload this.

What bombsite are we talking about here. This is the first I have heard of one. What is the filename at sim-outhouse ? When did this come out ?

Ok, I found the version 2 and converted it to be used with the original B-17. Only question I have is the avionics!autopilot ? Is that like the autopilot in the early version ?

Now that it is working and you can move it around and all that, how are you going to drop the bombs ? I assume it will be tied to the droptank commands is that correct ?

I'd use the FS2004 one but I can't find it at any of the sites....

No Jib, I don't think it's tied to the drop tanks, as they simply disappear after being dropped and do not actually hit the gound as one would expect.
The sight was never meant to be functional in FS9 that I know of simply because the physics were not in place to drop bombs in that program. Thus the sight in FS9 was purely eye candy and not meant to be functional.

Bombs can actually be dropped from aircraft if I understand it correctly in FSX through the commands in the mission builder SDK.

If FS9 the site doesnt eally do anything. In FSX you can install a bomb that you can drop. That is what the newest version is made for.

Grabbed the site, and found some bombs, are there any missions out there where
the B-17 can actually drop `em?

Thanks Vaughn. I'm going to dig in the SDK some more to see. If I'm not mistaken didn't this replace the default 2D cockpit view?

It didnt replace the entire 2D cockpit view, when you were in Virtual cockpit mode, you hit "A" button, till it toggled to a view that was strait down at the ground with no panel, then you hit "Shift 2" to make the Bombsite come up. And to the other guy who asked a question, this is NOT for Accu Sim, this was created by a guy for the FS9 "Heavy Bombers And Jets" B17, then he updated it for the FSX WOP2 B17. But we would really like for someone to figure out how to make this work for the Accu Sim B17 :D
