Battery not holding charge

Post by Masterius »

Not sure what's up, but lately I can't get the batteries to hold a charge. Even in a cold and dark state, with everything off, if I press charge, the "CHARGE" turns white than immediate green.

This is not abnormal. To test your batteries turn the Inverter to normal then turn battery one switch to ON making sure that the APU is NOT running. Check the AC Volt Meter on the panel, it should read somewhere around 18 to 24 volts. Then turn battery one Off and battery two ON to check it, then repeat for battery three. My B-17 has done this sense I purchased it years back. I have the same issue with the hydraulic oil in the 17. I can fill it and wait 10 seconds and fill it again and again and again.

Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger.
The inverter switch for batt test should be done in the Alternate not normal , see this WW2 tranining video , about 19:49 min into video. https://youtu.be/JRsY92avbVQ

Thanks for the correction Alan. I haven't flown the 17 for over 4 years until it was released for P3D. Sense it was released I've been doing it wrong  .

Cheers
