Salute A2A Flying Fortress Captains
As a natural follow-up of my L049 modified clipboard I have been working on this sense the B17 was released for P3D. I think it is all functioning correctly. Please read the < B-17 Modified Clipboard README.txt > file within the package for installation instructions and information. If you have issues please give me feed back.
alan CXA651, the Magnetic Ground Track function should serve as a stop-gap for wind drift until something better comes along. Simply compare your plane magnetic heading with the ground magnetic track and do some quick math. It should get you close to a wind deviation. I wanted to run a formula that would give a heading correction (example; L 17 deg or R 4 deg) according to drift but I am not clever enough to write it. I'm having troubles with addition/subtraction going past 360 degree. I will continue to work on it but don't hold your breath. I DO NOT MATH WELL .
Cheers
Roger

Re: B-17 Modified Clipboard
Hi Roger.
The B17 as effectively got a wind drift marker on the map , the idea behind the drift meter and an actual norden bombsight addons , is to have them as 2 d popups , that could be added to the panel.cfg of any aircraft that had them , just for more realism of systems operation on the old aircraft of that era.
It is also something A2A could do fairly quickly to add something to the present fleet while we wait for the next A2A aircraft .
regards alan.

Re: B-17 Modified Clipboard
Thank you very much. Glad it's being used.
Just a note, during a flight today I noticed some text errors. Some of the text was transparent but only noticeable with the right background behind the window. I have updated the file as well as the download link above. Nothing has changed as far as the functionality so update if you wish.
Roger

There's a drift sight for FS2004 at flightsim.com (drift7.zip) that I used successfully in FSX and will probably work in P3D. https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.ph ... &fid=99543

Re: B-17 Modified Clipboard
I'm embarrassed about this but I had to update the file
It happens that copy & paste & copy & paste without checking the indexes and not doing a proper testing is not good
Please update to get proper cowl flap positions readout. Link above is updated.

Re: B-17 Modified Clipboard
Tried this out today. Looks very promising, but I have one bug and a couple of questions:
The RPM reading is buggy. When the copilot is operating the RPM settings, at 100% the clipboard reads 1%. If I take control back and adjust the RPM manually, the clipboard reads RPM correctly, but as soon as I turn control back over to the CP the RPM pops back to 1%.
What is BHP and PPH?
How difficult would it be to have RPM and Intercoolers display on a per-engine basis as do the cowl flaps?
So far, this looks very intriguing, and something I'll probably continue using!

Re: B-17 Modified Clipboard
The RPM simply reads your throttle lever position. My co-pilot is quite bored during my flights as I don't allow him to touch anything .
BHP is Brake Horse Power
PPH is Pounds Per Hour fuel burn
As far as splitting up the RPMs and Intercoolers I doubt I will sense I never run them at different levels unless I have lost an engine.
Thanks for the feedback and keeps the ideas coming.
Roger
EDIT: Sorry the RPM is reading the RPM Lever position, not throttle lever. I would also add that the clipboard is pressed for space at the moment so adding more items would mean enlarging the clipboard.

Re: B-17 Modified Clipboard
Thanks for the quick response!
I'm working towards a bored co-pilot, too. That was the main reason for inquiring about having the RPM and Intercoolers display on a per-engine basis, as I'm also working on individual, per-engine controls for throttles, mixtures, cowl flaps, RPM, and intercoolers.
It's a work in progress.

Re: B-17 Modified Clipboard
Oh Masterius, when you take full control and manage all aspects of the B17 it is a satisfying feeling. It took me quite some time to do so. Pay close attention to the recommended and maximum power settings and you'll be fine.Masterius wrote: ↑21 Jan 2021, 22:10 Thanks for the quick response!

It took me over 1000 hours in the Connie before I took the pressurization controls away from the FE. Not a crying baby sense that day.
Cheers and good luck.

Re: B-17 Modified Clipboard !!! UPDATED !!!
Good day fellow simmers,
I have updated my modified clipboard for the B-17. The END - RNG - NMPG row was walking off the window if conditions were right. I've edited the tabs so that should not happen now. I've also edited the GS & TAS line to now display GS and TAS in both Knots and MPH. Just never satisfied
Cheers
Roger

Re: B-17 Modified Clipboard : UPDATE v1.2 :
Minor Update, v1.2
Added heater control lever percent readout after cabin temps.
May have fixed the readout for throttles and Intercoolers reading incorrectly when FE is in control. Let me know your results on this please. NOTE, the props and intercoolers only read engine 1 position.
Original link updated
Cheers
