Hello,
first of all thank you very much for releasing the B-17 for P3D!
I'm still using P3Dv4.5 and have an issue with the exterior glass of the B-17. It looks quite opaque and almost like chrome:
On the preview pictures in the shop the exterior glass looks spot on. But I guess they were made in P3Dv5. So I was wondering if either something went wrong during the installation and I installed the P3Dv5 files or if the model is only optimized for P3Dv5?
Help would be much appreciated as the glass spoils the look of this great model a little bit.
Thanks a lot!
Greetings
Tim

Re: [P3Dv4.5] Exterior glass looks almost like chrome
Hello Tim,
Thanks for the post. The store screenshots were indeed captured in P3Dv5.1 but I think the main issue here is that the glass appearance will be completely different depending on whether dynamic reflections are enabled or not in the lighting settings. Here are a couple of comparison pics, the first with DR off (P3D default) and the second with them enabled and set to low.
Dynamic reflections disabled
Dynamic reflections enabled
I'm not a particular fan of the DR in P3D, particularly the colour of the reflected skies, but I'll mention this to the guys and see if there's anything we can do to optimise the appearance of the glass across all settings.
Cheers,
Nick

Hello Nick,
thank you very much for the quick reply!
I usually have dynamic refelctions enabled so I made a quick test. It surely looks different with dynamic reflections disabled but I can't say that it looks better:
Dynamic reflections disabled:
Dynamic reflections enabled:
As the exterior glass of all other A2A aircraft is perfectly fine it would be great if you guys could find a way to optimize it
Greetings
