B-17 New Views?

Post by Firecapt32 »

I was wondering if there will ever be an update for the B-17 showing different views like the Bombardier Station, Gunner Stations, etc?

You can create your own 'customized' views. I have a couple that put me in the bombardiers station,
the tail gunner station, the bomb bay.

You simply take an existing view, change the title and GUID then adjust the camera positioning values.

Here is a listing of the views I created for my purposes when flying multiplayer with the 91st Bombardment Group.

They aren't 'perfect' but serve my purposes.

Code: Select all

Additional views for the A2A Accu-Sim B-17G. These views may also be
installed in the Pre-Accu-Sim B17G but the numbering of the entries
may need to be adjusted.

Here are my camera definition entries for the A2A B-17G Aircraft.cfg file.
I adjusted the views for use with my TrackIR "normal" head position. They
might need tweaking for non-TrackIR users or to suit ones personnal preferences.

BACK UP your Aircraft.cfg file before proceeding!!!!

They can just be added after the default [CameraDefinition.xx] entry in
the Aircraft.cfg file.

I have also included the definitions I use for moving around the VC using my
#2 hat switch on my X-45. Those views could be assigned to any button or switch
in the FSX Controls menu. The link below is to a JPG showing how this is done.

If you are 'short' on extra buttons/switches/hats a cheap USB gamepad makes for
an easy way to add additional controls for assignment.

By adding a line like this:

HotKeySelect=8

to a CameraDefinition, it can be selected via a button, switch or
even a keyboard input. You can change the HotKeySelect=X entries to suit your
needs.

If you chose NOT to install all of the additional views, just insure
that the numbers (.18 .19 .20 etc) are adjusted to be consecutive.

For the [CameraDefinition.xx] entries below, add them after the default
definitions, #17 is the last default I believe.

Thanks. I will try them out tonight. When using these views are you able to see the aircraft modelling or are these just the outside like using the 2-D cockpit view without a panel?

They are inside the two models...the VC and the airgraft. Some adjustments may be needed as I set these
up for where my head is with trackIR.
