KBFI T/O landing in stronge gusting crosswind

Post by alan CXA651 »

Hi.
Took the b17 up in not the best weather , the T/O and landing at KBFI boeing field was coming from 186deg nearest runway hdg is 130 , the wind on landing was gusting and it was raining , just to get my full attention , i had a boot full of right rudder on approach , and controlling the slip with ailerons, it was a nice landing , i also did a bit of low fun flying too , from startup to shut down , i added 1hr to the engs/airframe , on inspection in the hangar , the hyd pump was warn , it was repaired , brakes are bad enough on this aircraft , without the risk of a pump failure .

Alan,

What are you using to look around the cockpit?
