first early dawn flight

Post by alan CXA651 »

Hi.
All my b17 flights up till now , have been in daylight , this was my first flight , where the t/o needed cockpit lighting , i found it difficult to trim engine settings due to not being able to see the green band , and i also noticed on the map , the single white bar denoteing direction , was missing the point , yet in daylight the bar as a point at one end.
Other than that the flight was nice , as was the weather for a change.

Hi Andrew.
If you mean heavy overcast , then yes , last two weeks at ksea , has seen high winds low clouds , crosswinds , heavy rain , if you mean in fog , then no , and as i stated here , this was first time in the very early dawn , and had to use inst lights , this is where i have found a small glitch , on the map the arrow head on the single white direction pointer is missing , yet in daylight its where it should be.
I thought i was seeing things at first , but the bar has a square end on each end of the bar.
