Unable to uninstall B17 with Accu-Sim

Post by et31 »

Hi,

I am unable to uninstall the a2a B17 or the Accu-Sim expansion pack (latest updates installed).

I am trying to use the control panel and I get the "could not open INSTALL.LOG file.

I am using Windows 10.

Can anyone help?

Kind regards

Greg

Greg,

Re-install the B-17 and accusim pack, then uninstall them in reverse order.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have given this a try and I am still unable to uninstall.

What should I do now?

Kind regards

You can manually remove it by deleting the following (inside the FSX install dir):

/A2A/B377
/Effects/fx_WoS_b377... files
/Effects/Texture/fx_WoS_b377... files
/SimObjects/Airplanes/WoS_B377
/SimObjects/Airplanes/WoS_B377_Pregnant_Guppy
/sound/wos_b377_starter_crank.wav

Hi Scott,

Sorry it's the B17 I've got ☺

What should I uninstall for that?

Kind regards

Sorry about that. Here you go:

\A2A\B17
\effects\fx_WOP2_b17...
\effects\texture\fx_WOP2_b17...
\SimObjects\Airplanes\WoP2_b17g
\wop\b17_manual

Hi Scott,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I will give this a go.

I have now also bought the T6 and I have the same problem with that. (I do not want to uninstall it but was just curious).

What do you think the problem could be?

Kind regards

Lew, does this sound like a windows permissions issue?

Greg,

There is an uninstall log for each installation placed in it's respective folder in the [FSX INSTALL]/ A2A folder. If you install a program and don't see a log here, then something on your system is intercepting that file and not allowing it to be written. Maybe a Windows permission limitation, virus protection, etc.

I would first check to see if that file exists. If it does, then it may not be able to write to the Windows registry for the same reasons above. This tells the installer where to look for the file.

Worst case, it's not the end of the world as you can manually remove these programs easy enough, and this only has to be done once.

Hi Scott,

Thanks very much for the reply.

I have come back just at the right time and have just purchased the B377 and COTS in the sale and I'm very excited to learn this and the new aircraft!

Okay back on topic now :) we were discussing uninstall ing the B17 manually and I know I should uninstall accusim first - what files do I remove to do this?

Kind regards

Greg

sounds like its got messed up, i've had the same thing happen on a few installers/uninstallers. Remove all the files manually so you know its all uninstalled. Then run this little tool to remove the entry in the control panel section
