Hi.
Today i decided to do a pre dawn take off , maint hangar showed NO FAULTS/REPAIRS needed , fuelled up and made sure all fluids where topped up .
Took off did a quick flight and returned to KBFI , and first landing in dark did not go well , complaint from co pilot , taxiied in and stoped , shut everything down.
For the past two days , i have had a very noisy right wheel brake , so i have been expecting a message in maint hangar , but nothing as yet , but when i had topped up the fluids after my flight , i then went into the maint hangar again , and was surprised that i had clocked up 12 hours flying , but i also had a worn hyd pump (yellow), and was told to keep an eye on it , well knowing my brakes and cowl flaps rely on it , i decided to replace it , i know i can do the emerg gear down crank if needed , but no brakes or cowl flaps is another matter ,and could mean 4 over heated and failed engines , dont fancy glideing one of these heavys .
I have 1000hr wear rate selected on this aircraft in the maint hangar , is 12hrs a normal wear rate for the hyd pump , or am i just unlucky .
regards alan.

Re: hyd pump problem
It sounds like you just were unlucky and had a bad hydraulic pump installed.

Re: hyd pump problem
Hi Scott.
Thanks for confirmation , guess i had better start carrying a rabbits foot for luck , strange thing though , since changing the pump , the noise from right brake has stopped .
Regards alan.
