Static clicking sounds. **Solved!!**

Post by G-BJPS »

Hi Lewis,

I mentioned this in the past, i also get it with the B377, you asked me to capture it if i could.

It's only ever audible in VC view, and when engines are over 1500 RPM.

You can hear it in this clip from 5 seconds onwards, about every 5-8 seconds.
You'll hear that it goes away on outside view too.

Yeah everything is up to date, thanks Lewis.
It's only the B17 and 377 i get it with, everything else is fine.

This does sound like an odd driver issue, as all the samples are smooth. I do hear the clicks on your system and just testing it here, there are no clicks.

Can you share your system specs?

"Onboard HD 7.1 Audio"

As Lewis said, it has to be something in here. There are no clicks in the sound loops visibly or audibly, but your system is clicking apparently on looping some of these sounds. This has to be some kind of quirky driver bug, that may show it's ugly head when pushed in certain ways.

If you have the ability to try different drivers for this audio, I would try that.

Thank you for looking into it Scott, i appreciate your time.
I checked the sound drivers and updated it again, but no joy.
My sounds are fine with everything else and other games, so it must be one of those weird computer things, for example my machine doesn't need the Automationcore.dll thingy for FSX, it crashes with it installed....but the the free version of FSUIPC makes it run just fine, and stops nearly all known crashes.

Thanks again,

John.

Hey folks, i have tried everything i can think of to try and solve this.
I just did a small flight in the 377 and i get it with that too :(
I've tried updating sound drivers, all up to date. Also, i use a headset and its just plugged in via USB (drivers fine for that too) i recently plugged it into the rear motherboard USB socket, rather than the top front of case one i'd been using, but still no joy.

I know its an old topic, but i appreciate you taking time to look into it back then Scott :) but i'm afraid this is above my PC skill level lol! i'm stumped!
Its just odd it only happens with the B17 and 377 though. And to be honest it stops me flying them :(

Hi John,

Do you have any speakers or headphones with a simple 3.5mm audio jack which you could try plugging into the line out audio port on the mobo? (The lime green one).

Cheers,

Hey Nick, hope you're well mate, yes I've got some standard 3.5 mm headphones I could try.
I'll try it when I go on computer later, but im sure my old headset was via that 3.5 socket and as far as I remember I've always had the clicking.

But its worth checking because the old headset was a Turtle Beach PX21, and it had to be connected with both USB and 3.5 oddly. :)
Current headset is Corsair H1500.

Thanks bud,

John.

Hey John - yeah, maybe worth a try mate, just to eliminate digital to analog conversion via the headset as part of the culprit. In other words by doing this, you should just be using your onboard sound driver without any additional hardware D/A conversion.

No joy i'm afraid Nick, still there via the 3.5mm jack/headphones. So nothing to do with digital to analog like you say, also rules out the possibility of a USB power issue too, as i thought it may be something to do with the seemingly endless USB settings lol!

Hmmm, the only other thing I'd suggest John is removing your current audio drivers altogether and seeing if the issue is still present if you just use the audio drivers which Windows update installs. That's all I use at present for the on board sound on my Asus P8P67-M, and I've never had any issues with FSX sounds looping which I can recall.

It probably won't help, but a clean driver reinstall can't do any harm I guess?

Morning Nick, thanks for looking into it mate, I already tried that with the Drivers, and as you say I just plug stuff in and let it run the standard windows install.

I have in the past re-installed both aircraft but that doesn't fix it either.
The only thing I can think is that it must be to do with each of these birds.
Both have 4 engine's and the sound only happens over 1500 RPM, and VC only.
I know Scott said the sound files are ok and I obviously trust him, but there is something definitely going wrong when certain sounds kick in on my system, and it has to be to do with the 4 engine's.

Im worried that I might happen with the Connie too.

Hiya John,

In that case have you also tried with the Realtek Audio drivers as supplied by Asus?
