Hello, forum. In 2007, I purchased the "Wings of War" B-17 by Shockwave Productions from the FlightSim Store. Still have it on my harddrive, but have not used it in years.
Is this the proper aircraft that can be upgraded with Accu-Sim, or is there a more current B-17 that must be used with Accu-Sim?
The B-17 has sentimental value to me, as my dad was a bombardier with the 8th Air Force, and I heard many harrowing accounts from him of their high-altitude bombing missions over Germany in 1943-44. His plane was shot down, and he spent the "better" part of 18 months in an prisoner of war camp for airmen.
Thanks,
Rich

The base model is the "Wings of Power II B-17G for FSX." See here for details: Link to page
The older B-17F and B-17G pack for FS2004, the "Heavy Bombers and Jets" pack for FS2004, or the DVD titled "Aircraft Power Pack" for FS2004 and FSX (all released under the Shockwave Productions label) are not compatible with the Accusim expansion pack for the WoP2 B-17G.

If you got it back in 2007, which is about the time I jumped aboard, then you likely have the right package to upgrade. That was one of the first commercial videos I ever made, and it was A2A's (Shockwave at the time) first true FSX aircraft. If you liked that version, wait until you see the Accusim upgrade. It's a total game changer!

Any further questions just post in the forums Rich, but it sounds like maybe you have the old FS2004 WOP version rather than the FSX WOPII version?

Lewis

Re: Is the 2007 Shockwave B-17 the Plane Needed for Accu-Sim
Just checked the installer that I still have saved to my hard drive, and it's named WOP2_B17.exe.
So it appears to be the right base aircraft, and not the FSX 20004 version.
I just might be in luck. Time to get the Accu-Sim update and have some Flying Fortress Fun!
Thanks,
Rich
