Brand new factory fresh B-17

Post by Warbirds »

I wanted a version of the 17 that looked like a factory fresh or maybe a new restoration with polished metal and no markings.

Nice warbirds, very clean indeed!

Not sure if you have finished, but you might want to remove the metal from the chin and tail turrent gun slots though as those parts are fabric and a brush like material to allow the guns to move up and down whilst sort of keeping an (albeit not best) seal.

thanks,
Lewis

Thanks for the tip Lewis, I will change those. Lots of textures, alphas and specs to change and I am sure I missed a few more things.

Actually you might want to google the tail turret, thinking about it I think that's different the to the chin.

thanks,

Anti-glare paint was also applied to factory fresh Fortresses on the inside nacelles/cowlings as well as below the windshield. Check here: http://www.tlarkins.net/stuff/transport/end_era00.html And scroll about 2/3 down. Looks like they had the "star n bar" too and the black rubber de-icer boots as well.

Looking goood and fantastic idea doing a factory fresh Fortress! :D Would like to download myself when it's ready.

I have the boots but wanted a clean version. For all the purist this is not for you. This was for me to have a clean blank polished canvas to start other liveries and schemes from so pick it apart all you want but it stays as is.

It is a big departure for me as I like the well worn, dirty used look as in my "well used cockpit" series (see this thread; https://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewto ... 29&t=26975 ). I am very interested to see how the new P3D with real reflections handles the metal but will wait till the dust settles on that for a bit before updating.

Sorry. Didn't mean to offend or criticize either. Just thought the idea of factory rollout B-17 was an excellent idea and got a little too far ahead of myself :( .

No problem,,if you know your way around a paint program such as Paint Shop Pro or PhotoShop you can download the paint kit and use the stars and bars layer to add them to this version. The anti-glare might be a bit tougher to add though as I don't think that is a layer.
