American Voices Wanted for A2A B17 Voice Control Checklist

Post by Capt Richardo »

Fellow lovers of the A2A B17, I need your help!

I am creating a freeware voice control checklist for the A2A B-17 and i require some help creating some voice files for the checklists. I cant record mine as I'm from the UK and my voice wouldnt sound right.

The program is based on the one listed on the A2A Cessna 172 page, I have almost finished the checklist xml file and will soon be ready to add the wav files.

I require US American adult males with clear speach who are willing to record around 100 voice files which will be used to act as the co-pilot and crew. Once complete the whole package will be uploaded to the web for fellow simmers to enjoy free of charge.

The checklists will cover everything from setting up the cockpit from entering the aircraft, pre-engine start, engine start-up, after start, before taxi, engine run-up, before take-off, after take-off, before landing, approach (finals), after landing, shut-down, in flight engine shut-down and feathering, in-flight un-feathering and start-up ... and much more.

Please PM me if you are intrested and if you can add a small sample/clip of your voice to this thread as a file or link to youtube or alike that would be great.

Looking forward to hearing from you if you can help.

Thanks

Rich

I'm interested. I read voiceovers for news stories somewhat regularly at work. I might even be able to find one of those stories on YouTube for you for my 'audition.'

The only caveat is whether my coworker, who normally does the professional recording and editing, can help. We might be able to turn it into a training opportunity, which would help fill the time at work close to the holidays when projects typically slow to a crawl.

Just to let everyone know im still working on the programming of the voice control flows ... Its coming together well but getting bigger as i get more in depth ... Which i guess is a good thing ... Even though its alot more work than i expected.

I have created it to work with your own TTS voices for people who prefer TTS voices or you can use the recorded voice files.

Development Plan
Complete checklist items (90% done)
Test flows (50% done)
Alpha test
Inform voice artists (I hopefully will be in touch next week)
Compile completed voice files with flows
Beta test
Create manuals
Create demo video
Release for limited testing
Adjust as required
Final test
Release and go flying

Release is dependant on how long it takes the voice artists to get their files to me, if all goes to plan i hope to have it completed by Christmas ... Thats this Christmas LOL.

I will post more in a few days.

I hope you enjoy it when its finished.

Quich Thursday update

I have been expanding the checklists, im almost finished creating them so i thought i would give you an idea of what to expect.

So far i have 488 check list items with a few more to add in the last couple of checklists. Checklist creation is now at 95% complete.

The checklists so far are;

Pre flight (cockpit set-up)
Pre start
Engine start (1 to 4)
Engine start (indvidual engines so you can pick the order)
After start
Taxi
Engine run-up
Take off
After take off
Cruise
Approach
Finals
Go-around (aborted landing)
Touch & Go
After landing
Shut-down
In flight engine 1 shutdown
In flight engine 2 shutdown
In flight engine 3 shutdown
In flight engine 4 shutdown
In flight un-feather & start up
In flight engine 1 fire & shutdown
In flight engine 2 fire & shutdown
In flight engine 3 fire & shutdown (are you seeing a patern here!)
In flight engine 4 fire & shutdown
Abandoning aircraft
Ditching
Forced landing

Last few will/may be entering enemy airspace/combat (with sound effects), bombing run, may add a correct auto pilot set-up checklist later.

Thats it for now, any coments welcome.

Next progress update Monday next week and i will be PM'ing people who have said they are willing to help with the voices by Monday with an overview of where we go with the voices.

My wife is away tonight so im off to do some testing.

Cheers
