That could have been much worse. When the big alpha males fight, they try to lean back on their tails and use the big claw on a hind foot to rip skin open. Right about belly height.
Never look a big male in the eye as they take that as a challenge. Thankfully, most roos will hop it quick when a human approaches and for the most part, they're stupid creatures. This makes driving on country roads at night very dangerous as they scatter when a car approaches and you can almost be sure that at least one will jump in front of your car.
