Your favourite place to land A2A?

Post by rod55 »

Hi Pilots

just landed super cool, wonderful Comanche, westwards, at Dundee (EGPN) ("thanks Orbx") late winter afternoon, mix of weather effects (Orbx weather-theme 3). The plane sounds just great!

Dundee is really scenic, from the North Sea, then Firth of Tay, over the Tay Road Bridge (one of the longest in Europe) and then landing parallel with river, super scenery at airport and up to parking. Hope to visit Dundee, one day. And maybe catch a soccer match. Then local brew or three.

P3D V5.3 hf2 (lighting/brightness = 1.1 ; /saturation = 0.9) (Daytime cockpit and panels are visually clear for me, maybe a touch shady but not-at-all dark on my monitor. I've just tweaked the lighting to try make it slightly less colourful/artificial to my taste, and a smidgen lighter.

Q. So what's your favourite destination airfield?

Rod EGBB (two pairs of socks but still a bit nippy round the Trossachs)

PS but then again, approach 'n landing at scenic Donegal (EIDL) (M-K Studios/Orbx), bordering the Atlantic, is extremely pleasurable!

Hello Sir.

Working to find a good setting for "Lighting and Brightness" in P3d v 5.3. Still tinkering because I find the cockpit too dark.

Thanks Rod. Beautiful scenery, great plane (sorely missed if a2a never gets to make one)

And a nice tribute to your friend. <S> Sir

A2A Spitfire I

Landing into Efogi.

Always a challenge, even in clear weather. A nightmare in bad.

I park all my planes in the same place on the same airport where I was based in real life. They occupy the exact spot their real counterparts occupied when I flew them.
I enjoy replicating some of the exact flight plans I flew in real life.
It's amazing how accurate as far as ramps and scenery FS2020 is to real life. Some things like radio frequencies and navigational frequencies are the same as they were back then.
For example, the ILS at KILG is exactly as I remember it and I can fly that like the back of my hand.
Makes the sim quite interesting for me. Sort of like a trip backwards through my career as a pilot.

I do all my first and intermediate test flights out of KCGX. Can‘t help it, I‘m just used to it :D

Both Comanche and Bonanza are based in 2O1 (Gansner Field, Part of Orbx KBLU in North Cal). I fly northbound to Juneau and back, trying to find small airport to stop.
Last trip was following the Columbia River from the Pacific to the canadian border.
Off topic, but as stated above, Comanche and Bonanza cockpits are way too dark in P3dV5.3. At night, even with white flood on, the Bonanza fuel selector remains invisible.

Ian P’s Hornchurch for the Spitfire, my own Sudbury for the B-17…Monterey California is a big favorite as is Avalon on Catalina Island in SoCal for the T6 and Mustang and the A2A GA aircraft. Oh, and Leadville (KLXV) is amazing all year for any aircraft with which you wish to try your luck! 😂. Pt. Roberts in Washington State…all the really amazing ORBX turf airfields in the UK! I could be at this all night…😳
