Reno Racing coming to FS2020 (and it’s already here)

Post by AerialShorts »

Not sure of the details but looks like Reno racing is coming this fall sometime… unfortunately it seems after Reno. Folks are grousing about the likely plane quality but they look gorgeous anyway from the glimpses in this video. It’s in a few minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZnS6E5gN5k (Obisidian Ant). The Texan prop turns the wrong way if you watch close - that stuck right out. But looks good and it is noted that Microsoft is working to document lots of aircraft at lots of museums to preserve them in the sim. May be lots of cool airplanes hitting over the coming years. I just hope they do them justice.

It looks like the races will be in dedicated arenas with dedicated planes so there is still an opening for A2A with high-end versions of the P-51 and Texan for use in general but also in Dantesmante’s Reno scenery you load in like any other mo from flightsim.to. We just need some good planes but can really race anything. Hopefully the Reno scenery is available in the sim itself if it’s much enhanced over Dantesmante’s.

Untested but we may be able to watch the real Reno races next month in FS2020 using Enhanced Live Traffic (at flightsim.to). There’s ADSB coverage at Reno so we should see them but ELT has problems on the ground (just how Flightradar24 sends data). Hard to know how well it will work at Reno but it may work well enough to watch the races. I watched the Texans arrive at Oshkosh in formation pairs and that worked great. The built in facility for seeing real-world aircraft is delayed and you don’t see a lot of aircraft. ELT lets you configure how many aircraft it injects. You can also customize model matching.
