cristi.neagu wrote: 14 May 2021, 11:49 Well, if we won't get an update from A2A by the end of this month, i think i'll have to pull the trigger and get P3Dv5. I hope it will give me better performance than v4. I enjoy FS2020, but the absolute lack of features is not only getting a bit boring, but also a bit frustrating. And i'm really starting to miss the Bonanza.
The only thing holding me back from P3v5 is that I need to upgrade my GPU (8gb RAM at least), and right now the GPU market is broken or doped.
Guess i've been out of the P3D loop for a bit too long. Does v5 not work with less than 8gb of VRAM?
I have a Gtx-1060 with 6 GB VRAM. My system uses around 1,5 GB of VRAM so it leaves 4,5GB for the sim. Using in P3dv5 settings lower that I used to use in P3dv4, I had to avoid flying in congested areas with complex aircrafts or that will lead to a crash due to running out of VRAM.
Aircrafts not very well optimazed like the Milviz KA350 or airports like Flytampa KLAS or a no go in P3dv5 (unless you have a GPU with at least 8GB)

That's my own experience. May differ from others, but I wanted to share it to help people to get an idea.

Yes the Kingair uses a lot of memory. At the same time with my card I was able to port the VertX DA62 into P3D5 while other people were unable. It uses almost 8GB in v5. The Kingair fills up aroune 6GB here.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like my 980ti is not quite enough to get any benefit at all from the DX12 upgrade in v5.

Flying out of Tacoma Narrows airport (KTIW) in the C182 in P3Dv5 with Washington True Earth installed I went over 8 gb of vram and had to restart. I lowering the settings to about medium I was able to take off with vram at about 5.5 gb. In southern Oregon with Oregon True Earth and high settings I am down below 4 gb of vram.
Ryzen 7 5800X3D liquid cooled, OC to 4.5 ghz, Radeon XFX 6900XT Black edition, 2 tb M2 drive, 32 gb ddr4 ram, Asus Hero Crosshair VIII mother board, and some other stuff I forget exactly what.

I really hope the Stratocruiser will have a comeback in MSFS.. it's the aircraft that was first released with Accusim, and despite its age still the best and most complete Propliner on the market. The Connie was rather boring compared to the Strat. It never went to P3D.. but seeing her in all her beauty (*cough*) in MSFS, with COTS and all the engine management.. that would be absolutely fantastic.
Kind regards, Matthias

I am just waiting on any sort of feedback from them. Would really like to know if the Comanche is a summer thing, a 2022-ish thing, a "we have no idea when and if this will be possible" thing...

My gut feeling is 2022 or 2023.

Dudley's post from earlier sounded pretty hopeful to me. He said they could have released it already, which means it's mostly there and they just need to take it from a Comanche to an A2A Comanche. So i choose to remain hopeful and believe it's a summer 2021 thing. But i would surely like some sort of confirmation...

Btw, does anyone know if A2A are working with Asobo like PMDG are?

Well, there you go. RSR has emerged from his PMDG burrow, he has not seen his shadow, as is predicting an early spring for PMDG aircraft in FS2020 :D Now i'm waiting with bated breath for "A2A Groundhog day"

Awesome! If I can't have a deep GA simulation in MSFS then a deep propliner simulation is the next best thing.

Just let us know if you need any testers. Hard job, but I'd be willing to sacrifice a few hours of my time for it
Same here. I have 180 hours on MSFS already and tired of the INOP tags and the lack of A2A quality. Have already tried the Carenado C-182 and their PA-44 Seminole and they sit in the hangar as Queens. The quality is just not there. Currently flying the Just Flight Arrow III and it is close to A2A quality but no cigar. I am still craving the A2A quality.
I have not even purchased MSFS2020 yet. I'm still waiting for it to get cleaned up and improved. Just like I did with FSX years ago lol. So how is it? Other than the fact that the aircraft are less than perfect? Did they ever fix the dynamic weather? For me, weather accuracy and flight characteristics of the individual aircraft are most important. I'm still on FSX, and all I fly are a2a products!

Well, looks much better than P3D, with better framerates. Scenery is at worst comparable to ORBX scenery, and most of the times it's better. Airports are so and so, but much better than default P3D. The JustFlight Arrow III is not bad. The weather is a bit hit and miss for now, but sim update 4 is supposed to drop on the 25th (today or tomorrow, depending where you are) which is supposed to fix some of the issues, so hopefully live weather will be better.

I'm not a fan of when I take a month or so off, coming back to 60GB updates.
