Remember when

Remember when we had to smack the TV because
the channel wasn't coming in clearly?
I feel that way about far to many people now.

Wow ... and here's me thinking we were the only ones doing it! We even made a "remote control" to do the job ... an old boot on the end of a broomstick!

I don't understand why you guys would want to risk breaking your flat screens.

I also remember adjusting the “rabbit ear” antenna To just the right spot you could see Batman through the snow, the realizing if you let go the antenna, the “snow” became a blizzard and the picture was lost! Or how about constructing elaborate structure from aluminum foil to “augment” the reception! I think those of us of a certain age may have better imaginations as a consequence!😂

As the youngest, my primary job was Official Channel Changer and Rabbit Ear Adjuster. Finally got a TV with a remote around 1980, I think, and cable even later. No wonder I stayed thin.

I still call the TV remote a "clicker" once in a while. Remember why they were called that?

I had to Google why we called it a clicker. At this point in my life, I'm lucky if I don't call it a banana or orange...when I can find it.

Funny thing to remember. When I was that age I could hear extremely high frequencies and could hear the sound the clicker made (beyond the "click"). Later I could hear the sound the electronic versions made.

This was not all fun and games, as I could also hear the flyback transformer on TVs, a high pitched squeal. Motion detectors in stores were extremely loud, but only babies and I could hear them. It made babies cry when near them. It made me use rude language.

But don't bother complaining about such things. No one will believe you. :)

Mm. Clickers. I had a crush on the girl whose house had one.

I also remember when the TV would not work taking the back off and looking for the tube that was not lit. Then I would ride my bike to the local TV shop with the tube to get another one to replace the one burnt out. Had to be able to watch Bugs Bunny

Keep smiling
