"Pause On Task Switch" has been on by default since FS9 so I don't know why it is suddenly an issue with the new version. I've always had to turn it off so that I could have a chart or weather app running no big deal, is just a click of a box, not the end of the world.patful wrote: ↑11 Aug 2020, 12:47Thanks, Esa. There is indeed that setting, and I finally did unclick it. But I shouldn't have to, never happened in previous versions. Maybe it now considers Windows or Office checking for an update in the background a task switch, but I don't. I'm just flying along and it pauses. The crashes are what ended it for me. If the new sim crashes, then I've got a problem.

My guess is that "we" as Alpha/Betatesters were mainly "(mis)used" to test servers capabilites. Asobo obviously has its own Test Team wich works on a much more advanced build. The "Closed Betatest" was to no avail, as it was only opening to a greater number of testers, but as you migh have noticed without any updated build during the whole Beta apart from 1.6.13.0. So I'll be wondering what the current state of the first release will be. I do definitely hope that much of the Aircraft has been reworked as the 1.6.13.0 state would not even satisfy a "Simmer Novice" for more than 2 weeks...
Re: Has anyone done a pre-purchase on the new Microsoft FS 2020?
I am super excited for FS2020. That being said, I am not pre-ordering it (at least, not if I can keep holding out against the temptation!). If something extra was thrown in that might be a different story, but for now I am (relatively) content to see how release goes before I get involved.
My main worry is a "Sim City" repeat with a bunch of server/connectivity issues. Considering how much streaming this game does I think this is a valid concern. If all goes well or at least stabilizes, and the game performs as expected, then I will certainly be all in.

The last few days have had me swinging 'No, forget it' to 'Ah to hell with it, I'll buy it' and even 'I'll definitely get it because it'll be great and get even better'
Now you've got me back to 'No, forget it'
I'll very likely get it because I've just this afternoon put in a 1TB 860 EVO that's sitting there empty!

Well, that's a valid reason.. same here. I've got even a 2 TB SSD sitting empty... So,whatever is scheduled to come, it will be used to get it busy....Ron Attwood wrote: ↑12 Aug 2020, 15:24 I'll very likely get it because I've just this afternoon put in a 1TB 860 EVO that's sitting there empty!

Wow, that brought back memories! I was so utterly disappointed in that game after loving nearly every previous version.Raven214 wrote: ↑12 Aug 2020, 14:56 My main worry is a "Sim City" repeat with a bunch of server/connectivity issues. Can you install your A2A aircraft straight into the new FS2020 or will have to wait until A2A make a new installer??

NO !!
It's not even worth asking. The answer is definitely NO !! You CAN'T use ANY existing installer on MFS !! NO !!
Btw, please also note that the official naming of the new Simulator is Microsoft Flight Simulator, abbreviated officially to MFS (except for Germany, where they might prefer MSFS for some specific reason... )

I too will be glad when all of the speculation is over. It’s like trying to get reliable information on a worldwide virus or something. Don’t know who to trust or rely on!Ron Attwood wrote: ↑14 Aug 2020, 07:12 Jeez! I'll be glad when all this kefuffle has settled down to a low drone of complaints.

I'll tell you who NOT to trust. Anyone who says "Trust me, you can rely on me" It'll be a politician.
