P3DV4 Aircraft Install

Post by btbass »

Morning Guys;
I hope this is not a dumb question. I have always been an FSX user for all of my A2A aircraft. Purchased a new computer just for P3DV4. Bought the PA24 and the T6 for P3D. When trying to install the aircraft, it wants to go to the "Addon's" folder and the aircraft are not in the "simobjects/airplanes". My default folder is - P3DV4. What to change the install path to for the aircraft to install into the proper place?

Thanks for all of the great products and REALLY excited about the Aerostar;
Bryan

They are meant to go into the addons folder.

Hi Bryan and welcome,

For Prepar3D v4, it's normal to install aircraft outside of the sim's own folder. The sim uses xml and add-ons.cfg files to reference the location of its add-ons. This allows users to update or even reinstall P3D itself without having to reinstall any third-party content.

If you don't wish to install in the default "Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons" directory that's fine; you can point the installer to a different folder or drive. However, unlike with FSX, we strongly recommend you don't try to install these aircraft inside the main sim directory.

Thanks,
Nick

OK....Thanks guys.
New to P3D. Just use the default install? Where is the aircraft in the sim? It did not show up in the "airplanes" folder. Sorry for the trouble.

Might be worth checking under "A2A Piper" or "A2A North American" in the listing if you haven't already Bryan.

Thanks,

Thanks again Nick....
The PA24 is flying. From an old FSX user, P3D is a little different, but what a happy change.
Many thanks to all of you at A2A that keep us flying.
