DXGI_ERROR_HUNG

Post by bladerunner900 »

Hey guys. Just installed P3D v5 and I keep getting this error when I try and fly my A2A C172 or Spitfire. They are the only add-on aircraft I have installed at the moment. The only other add-ons at present are ORBX TrueEarth UK and ActiveSky P3D v5. Any hint as to what may be causing this would be extremely helpful.

Thanks

Steve.

Turn off enhanced atmospherics until you've balanced out your settings as it does that instead of giving low frames.

You'll find a gazillion posts about this error if you Google it. Basically, it's the new, all-singing, all-dancing version of an OOM error - just like old times, eh?

The "cure" ranges from re-mortgaging your house to get that mega video card (with infinite VRAM) you've always wanted - to turning down all your detail settings in P3D.

There's progress for you!

Strange that v4 never did this with my flat-out settings. I'll try what is suggested but what's the point if the new sim can't cope, or is it Direct X? Either way, I have some time yet but I feel a refund may be imminent.

Thanks guys.

It's the new engine which from my understanding gives that error when the vram is all used up unlike previous versions. The problem with this is lots of people have their settings high in older sims as they don't mind the lower frames but this doesn't work in v5.

I turned off the advanced atmospheric thing and backed-off all my sliders by one so far. Also turned off some shadow settings. At the moment it is better. No sign of that error yet but the clouds flicker now and again. Also read somewhere online, that the 2004 update is supposed to fix this but that could be just anecdotal. I'll give it some time and testing but I'll keep an eye on the two week deadline for a refund.

Besides that I think I like what I see. PBR chrome is FUBAR of course, but turning off Dynamic Reflections seems to fix that.

It shouldn't be this way. :x

I've had the same issue with normal clouds flickering and I'm hoping it gets fixed in the next update.

BINGO,

But if you are running a 2080Ti like me then also make sure you are up to date driver wise for your GPU.

thanks,

hardly call the Freestyle Pro a game pad in the traditional sense ;)

Just an update to say that I had a refund. If LM ever change anything for the better I will look again. Failing that, I will keep an eye out for some version of the A2A Spitfire in the new Microsoft sim. Or an Avro Lancaster. Either one would clinch the deal.

Yes. v4.5 is and always has been fine.

Update: 26 January 2021.
Back with v5 and seems LM have tweaked something. No sign of the error yet.
