Titanic connection.

This is the place where we can all meet and speak about whatever is on the mind.

Titanic connection.

Post by Killratio »

I've been doing some family research and tripped over the most amazing thing... the movie "Titanic" was built around
the story of my great, great aunt!!!

Of course they changed the story a bit for dramitic effect.

Her name wasn't Rose, they thought her real name was a bit boring. She didn't really meet a talented but penniless artist
named Jack and get swept off her feet and fall in love. It is true that she never married after the Titanic sank but that
was, I think, more due to the fact that she really wasn't a very pleasant lady, rather than "lost love".

I don't think anyone will be surprised that the "I'm the king of the world" scene on the bow of the ship was PURE fantasy.

She wasn't even from a wealthy family and I don't think she was ever in a First Class cabin in her life. She was, naturally,
Australian, not British or American.

And her "Jack" didn't die when the Titanic sank. To to be pefectly honest, she wasn't actually ON the Titanic, they just added
in the ship bit to spice up her story.....But she did kiss a boy in a car once.

Immediately the theme music and the hands running over the barley crop came to mind.
Roma Cafe will never be the same again.

Darryl,

I thought with you, "Gladiator" might have been an aircraft you fancied before those new-fangled elliptical-winged monoplanes!
