Windows Update 2004 -- Any Concerns???

Hello all, my PC is ready to install Windows Feature update 2004 but I always have grave concerns when it comes to Windows updates. Has anyone updated and did you have any issues with FSX-SE, P3Dv4.x, ASP4, FSUIPC, A2A, etc?

Thanks
Roger

Major concern if you use the Flight1 GTN. It's a slideshow. Garmin updated their trainer, but Flight1 hasn't done so for the GTN yet. A2A, ASP4, ASCA, Orbx, PTA are fine. Everyone talked about a massive improvement in P3D performance, but I noticed none at all.

Don't get too down, Adam. I'm still on P3D4.5. I know you're on P3D5, so it might be better for that version.

I‘ve kicked the latest update sh*t back off my PC and installed an update blocker for Win 10. tired of MS killing my sim.

I'm just disappointed they took away the Pro update deferment options. That was my reason for buying Pro in the first place.

Hi Adam.

Since the Spitfire is now available for v5, I was thinking of 'upgrading' P3D. I know you were a user of PTA so I would like to ask, do you miss it? Except for PTA all my other apps have been updated. It's the one thing that I suspect I would miss. What are your thoughts please.

Thanks Adam.

Steve.

Well, again it sounds like MS has dorked things up. I might just wait as long as possible. This will give developers a chance to make fixes. Thanks for the replies folks.

I’m on 2004 and it works brilliantly for me. Got more spare GPU-ram too...

Ah, that's why I didn't notice a performance difference. In 4.5, I've never come close to using even half of my GPU RAM. Since I have nearly everything maxed out, my total GPU usage sometimes gets around 95-100% in heavy forests and cloudy conditions, so I'll turn down dynamic reflections when that happens. 2004 had no effect on my GPU usage, CPU usage, or frame rates at all.

Yeah maybe it‘s worth a thought when changing to V5 or MSFS. But my 4.5 was eager to CTD as soon as the update had been installed.

So if I understand correctly, sense I'm on v4.5 with latest hotfix I should not update at this time? Or take the plunge and upgrade to v5.

Ummm  thinking  thinking  thinking

Let me add some fuel to your "thinking"...

I installed the Windows 10 2004 update. Everything installed fine for me, no issues whatsoever.

I am running P3Dv5, and I have an RTX 2080 Ti GPU. I say this because even before the update, I still had plenty of VRAM overhead. Even so, update 2004 did free up .5 GB of VRAM. Additionally, on my system, which is already strong when running P3Dv5 (i9900k running at 5Ghz). Well, the results I am now getting are even better performance in P3Dv5, very smooth flight with lots of bells and whistles enabled. I fly Orbx scenery exclusively and A2A Aircraft, so plenty of demand on my system. Bottom line, Windows update 2004 delivered on all the hype for my setup. That does not happen very often.

I cannot say how it affects P3Dv 4.5. I have 4.5 installed on my system still, but since v5 is running so well now, I have not even the slightest desire to fire up P3D 4.5 anymore.

Thank all for the info. I plan on updating to v5 soon but that won't be for a month or two. Just not in the cards right now.
