it looks like FSX2020 will be the best Flight Simylator ever made
both FSX2020 and Xplane 11 with the default scenery

The need for fast internet and to be online, realistically, makes it a non-starter for me. Also. I won't do the subscription dance for any software. Call me an old dinasaore if you like. I don't mind. I'll be extinct one day.
I'll probably keep going with P3D.

I'm also turned off by the subscription thing but I guess that depends on price; although no matter the price it's still going to be more money if you intend to fly for very many months. Between boxed FSX and Steam I think I have $110 wrapped up in the price of the sims themselves and I've gotten 14 years out of them? I do understand the quality difference and the prices of the add-ons the you probably won't have to buy but still.
Re: Xplane11 looks like a sim from the 90s when Compared to FSX2020
At some point I just want to stop updating anything, and I'm thinking P3D v5 is the stopping point. I just get tired of continually dumping money into this hobby. I'm sure addons for MS2020 aren't going to be free, and my wife may kill me if I pour another $2,000 into it.

Is a subscription deal a 'done deal' then?

Hello
it's Not yet confirmed by Microsoft if FSX2020 is going to be subscription or Not
but at least With FSX2020 the Only addon we will Need is a2asimulations Aircrafts
we don't need to pay thousands of dollars for scenery add-ons Anymore .
it's only My Opinion

A2A, PMDG, Majestic are all going to cost a pretty penny if they get moved over. 737 and 747 are a requirement for me!Lilian2244 wrote: ↑17 Apr 2020, 14:48Hello

In an interview one of the MSFS developers has stated the software won't be subscription based. It's either a single purchase, or you can get it with a gamepass. That is indeed a subscription which will also give you access to a lot of other games. However, this has not been officially confirmed.

Well we probably remember a time before Internet activation (DRM) was needed when there was just a Product Key Code (DRM) and before that no code was ever asked for.

Don't count on that...Lilian2244 wrote: ↑17 Apr 2020, 14:48 we don't need to pay thousands of dollars for scenery add-ons Anymore .

Is it really true you need to be online with a fast connection?bladerunner900 wrote: ↑17 Apr 2020, 13:22 The need for fast internet and to be online, realistically, makes it a non-starter for me. I do prefer keeping a self-contained sim around, so P3D or XP11 will probably stay installed for me.

It's unclear. I'll admit I'm confused over this point. I've seen supposed inside information claims about the required connection speeds. Ranging from 25-50 mbps. Way beyond my current set-up. Evidently you can cache areas in chunks, but to get the full benefit you need to stream the scenery live. Makes sense on a long haul I guess. Best to do some research on this if you are interested. For me , I'll pass.

Re: Xplane11 looks like a sim from the 90s when Compared to FSX2020
We can start with a 95 gig download to install the base, then optional extra as you fly which gets cached. The actual connection speed doesn't seem to have to be that high, but I can't afford the bandwidth as I'm capped at 25 gig per month and my family uses it all. It's $10 per gig beyond that. Satellite Internet, y'know.
Maybe they'll have some sympathy on those of us who are bandwidth-challenged and offer the entire thing pre-installed on a drive. Preferable with lots of pre-loaded cache as well.
Doesn't Jetline do something like this?

We don't have the infrastructure around my part of the world. If you're in a city, woo-hoo! your all set. But where I am in Wales, feels like we are 50 years behind the rest of the country, internet wise. The largest town nearest to me is five miles away and they were only recently ripping up the pavements to lay fibre. That all stopped of course when this pandemic hit.

Pretty sure Orbx will be in there so there goes another £1,000. :-0 Having said that, P3d V5.....for all you students who have been "academic" students for the last 5 years....you are not students anymore so time to go professional and rebuy all your A2A from scratch as well?.... I think not. I look forward to escaping that total nonsense! So roll on MS2020.
