Hi Nick.

I don't have v5 yet to try so, does this mean we will have to redo out custom paints, or will they still work as is?

Thanks.
Steve.

How to download this installer, if you bought the product on the simmarket, and there is no download available from the v5

All my old C172 repaints work fine - with the exception of a couple that I modified for PBR, which worked fine in v4.5 but look all washed out in v5. PBR seems to be a bit odd in general in v5, so I expect legacy models using PBR may need to be re-tweaked.

I have the same question for the Just Flight site. There's no indication of where to get the v5 installers.

I bought A2A trainer in the past at Justflight . The new version is not at their website.
Is there an other way to get it. Is there a way to register the product in my account at the A2A website?

We'll be sending the first batch of Prepar3D v5 compatible installers to third-party retailers soon. This phased release helps us to better manage support issues with the new platform.

Thanks,

Hmm. That's discouraging. Thanks for replying Adam.

To be honest, I find the introduction of the beta "advanced" lighting model more discouraging than anything else. It has a horrific adaptive luminance effect that's dependent of camera viewing angle (not, as you would hope, based on the relative lightness or darkness of the view).

It means that aircraft models/liveries that look OK in "standard" mode can look very different in beta mode - usually either bleached out or to contrasty and dark. How on earth a repainter is expected to cope with such variations is beyond me. I suppose you have to aim at a compromise between the two - but then *neither* is as good as it ought to be.

It gets worse and worse.

Has LM released any PBR models with this new sim? If they have and they look OK, perhaps they could be a pointer as to what is required. Regardless, I'll probably not bother with any more PBR until this, BETA period is over.

Steve.

Edit: Just to clarify that any PBR I have done is for v4.5. Think I'll stay there a while longer.
