Ha ha yes. Two would be better than one. I added another 980 to my current system when I felt it needed a boost. Perhaps I'll do the same with this system at a later stage.

Still don't think you can whack all the sliders to the right, or you will be disappointed.

Also, forget True Earth, unless you're happy in a GA at 30 fps.

Single core speed has a long ways to go yet, before P3D can be treated like Battlefield 4.... unfortunately !

Sliders be damned. Haven't got that far yet. I already hate Windows 10.

You are correct. However, I have been noticing something as of late. If the system and the graphics are all set up properly I can fly in low 20's and be very comfortable. If things are not set up properly mid 30's are terrible. For instance I was doing some system benchmarking the other day and turned HT back on. I forgot to disable HT before my next flight and noticed very uncomfortable situations near smaller airports and cities but my FPS was still upper 30's. I finished flight, disabled HT and went for another flight. I arrived at a larger city and airport with FPS in low twenties and it was very comfortable. Sure there was normal slight jitters of low FPS when panning with TrackIR but the CPU stuttering was gone and I was not having issues at all.
I guess my point is that if your system is performing at it's peak the low frames are not as much of an issue. I don't have my sliders full right but they are up there. The following link has my P3D settings and that includes the TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=10 setting tweak in config.

 I always hate converting to new OS. However, going from Win 7 to Win 10 was pretty painless for me. You'll get used to it

Okay. Quick results so far are, after a clean vanilla install of v4.5, with sliders set at my old levels of mostly high with one or two at max, FPS were bouncing around between 154 - 167. After adding ASP4, ASCA, RSF3D, PTA, all Orbx Global and all True Earth UK, FPS were around 56 - 69 over Cardiff. Exellent. More testing to follow but I'm pleased with that so far.

Oh!. I briefly toyed with the idea of another 2080 Ti for SLI, but soon dissmised that thought.

Just to add that the sim ran smooth as silk. No pauses or stutters so far.

That's great news Sir. The PC gurus are still saying that the 9900K is still the king of gaming CPU. It's amazing and at the same time disheartening the performance hit you get for all the eye candy. But if you can run 50+ then you're golden.

Daym! All sliders flat out and still 36 - 48 over Cardiff. This is Mid-Wales, where I fly mostly. Usually from south to north. Liveries look better too. Even silver jobs. Some tweaking to do in PTA, as I think the ground is a bit too contrasty and dark on my 10 bit LG monitor.

Still shiny, on a horribly dull day! That's a first for me.

Honestly. I would love to go the VR route. I just don't know which one to get. My instinct tells me that the HP Reverb would be my best bet. It seems to have the highest resolution at the moment. Getting to a demo is problematic at present, due to health issues with mum and the need for vigilance.

Thinking on that shiny wing. It looks like I was not getting the full benefit of the rendering engine on my old machine. Possibly because of all the partial updates of Client only I did in P3D v4. Looks like a clean install put everything in place to do a 'proper job' .

Steve.

If all you wanna do is flight sim maybe race sim ONLY, then HP Reverb for sure. As soon as you outside of that and want to experience anything else, esp room scale games then best to avoid the reverb and go the more traditional route. Swings and roundabouts for sure.

Flight and driving sims definitely. I imagine things like Space Engine and Universe Sandbox would look good in VR. I have a couple of survival sims but they do not do VR which is a shame.

Oh my word, me and dreamsofwings play some VR MP and have a good giggle. Playing the Forrest in VR left us feeling sick and rather amusing as we bash in cannibals and chop down trees and generally run away from things
