I was low on cash but I sold another 19 year old 3DFX card

Man what a blessing I was low on cash this month. It was a 3DFX Voodoo 5 5500 AGP 1/2X graphics card from the year 2000.
I got a fair price for it ($325) and it sold in 3 days.
I still have a bunch of 3DFX cards and seeing how old I am I should sell most of them (not all though). :D

That is awesome! I was debating picking up a Voodoo 5 for my 1998 Alienware Area 51 system I have. I currently have a Voodoo 2 installed in it. $325 is a very reasonable price. Hopefully at some point when I have the free cash you'll have one for sale, lol... To be honest when I was a kid and buying these parts I always thought they never made the Voodoo 5, but I think they were talking about making a card with 4 chips that never was made instead. 3DFX was a great company though, and thanks to them and Alienware I got in to building my own custom PC's. I still have that original computer, and even though now it is essentially useless I will never part with it due to the nostalgia.

You should get another Voodoo 2 and a cable to SLI them in your 1998 Alienware Area 51 to make it time period perfect.
I have 2 Pentium 2 systems with 2 Voodoo 2's SLI'd. One at only 266 MHz and another at 450 MHz (it's a beast with the 12 MB variant Voodoo 2 cards (Diamond 3D II Megamonster bundle)
I have 1 spare Voodoo 2 3D card as well.
I am debating on selling maybe 3 of those cards though.
I am also debating about selling a Voodoo 3 3500 TV card in a Pentium 3 500Mhz PC but again I may keep it.

I didn't know you could run SLi on the old Voodoo cards, lol.. My system is an AMD system. I was a huge AMD guy until I got my i7-950 dual core PC (which I also still have). My Area-51 system has an AMD Athlon 800mhz processor in it. Amazing to think now I have a 16 core i9-9900KS running at 5.0ghz. I remember being excited when processors made it over the 1ghz mark, lol.

Yes you could run in higher resolution with 2 Voodoo 2 cards in SLI.
A decent read here to start.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voodoo2

There were some uber expensive rare Voodoo 1 cards (I think around $2,500 USD at the time) that could have SLI just before the Voodoo 2 cards had this as an option hence the header pins on the Voodoo 2 cards for the SLI cable between 2 such same make/type 3D accelerator cards

I am really looking at the new AMD Ryzen CPU's now
AMD is doing really well as a comeback

Note this is just gaming .
AMD is a little behind Intel in gaming but not really bad.
In other applications (like video encoding etc. as one example) AMD is probably way over the top in performance over Intel with all the massive multiple 7nm architecture cores.

You guys are kidding around, right?

I have a Voodoo2 card somewhere, I think. I didn't know I had gold there, after all these years.

Not at all
Some Forum Members here remember me buying a 1997 Sierra Screamin 3D card new in the box unopened for $5 + Shipping at eBay and I sold it for $850 USD about 2 years ago to a German collector.

Some 3Dfx cards really can hold their value pretty well, others you will at least get maybe 1/3 to 1/4 of their original price for just the bare card and they sell fairly quickly (high demand no kidding).

Some better than others though.
Used bare Voodoo 2 cards don't usually fetch a lot like at eBay.
If you have a matched pair for SLI maybe around $150 USD at eBay for just the bare matched cards and a SLI cable and pass through cable.
Possibly more though.
If it comes with the original box, software, manuals, ads etc it can fetch a lot more money maybe even more than when new.
There are a lot of vintage PC owners that even love to play their old PC Games (emulation or even GoG doesn't give that feeling you know like on an old CRT monitor and original hardware.

One popular vintage website is the famous Vogons

Nice one, those old 3dfx cards where so ahead of there time and because so much classic software is a 'works best with' kinda thing the cards still have a bit of a cult following 8) 8) I remember my old voodoo 2 with fondness of the old European Air War and Air Warrior days 8) 8)

thanks,
Lewis

Sell it on eBay.
Just check the prices and then put it up along with older hardware if you want.

I have made my decision and I am going to sell a SLI'd set of 2 Voodoo 2 cards on eBay for more cash along with 2 pass though cables ( 1 is extra and not needed) and the SLI twisted ribbon cable. It should sell within a week or maybe three

Edit I sold that SLI'd pair in just one day :D
Plus I have two extra Diamond Monster II Voodoo II cards on eBay as well.

Another Edit a Diamond Monster 3D II Voodoo II card quickly sold so just one left. That was a surprise.
