F1 GTN 750 or Reality XP GTN 750

Post by Pilotgreer »

Hi everyone

Im looking to add a GPS to my aim, mostly for my A2A aircraft (and the aerosoft DHC-6).

Can anyone advise whether the Reality XP or F1 GTN 750 is better? I'm particularly interested in:

- ease of installation and integration
- stability (can't stand CTD!)
- Quality

And, is it possible to update their AIRAC cycle?

Cheers!

R

I have been using the Flight 1 GTN 750 and 650 for years. Installation is a snap, they work great, with zero problems.

I prefer the rxp version because the developer is regularly in the forums and the updates are a lot faster coming out. The actual operation I believe are largely the same.

I use the F1 GTN750 on both Comanche and Bonanza with P3DV4. No problem at all, useful add-on in my view.

zero Problems?

I can hardly use the buttons on the bezel... either they don't react or need double clicks...

And the database doesn't get updated.

I have no problem with buttons on about a dozen aircraft that I use this on. You must have some problem with your install. As far as the data base, it gets updated when Garmin releases a new trainer. The database is from Garmin.

MarcE, If you are having the problems you describe, I strongly suggest you update your devices. I was experiencing exactly the same and tried using the update tool, to no avail. Use the Flight1 agent to manage your Flight1 products and download/reinstall through that. I found the devices worked exactly as advertised after doing so. I suggest removing the software completely and reinstalling everything. You can reinstall the Garmin Trainer as well, though I do believe it may not be necessary if you have it up to date...

That's good to know guys,

maybe they have worked something out in the meantime... I had been in touch with their "support" for months and tried to get this work and all they did was to tell me to update it - what I did - and accuse A2A of bad implementation.. There was a point I gave up and trashed the whole F1 GTN stuff... I'll give it another go and try what you suggest.

Thanks!

Marc

Go with reality xp. I have flight 1 and it’s fine but with reality xp it allows you to use a physical hardware gps that you can mount on your desk.

Have RXP myself and never regretted the decision.

I have both. I prefer the RXP units. they have more options and the support is a lot better.
