FSX config keeps changing????

Post by curtis72561 »

Is there anyway to stop FSX or whatever from changing my FSX config from 4096 to 1024? Bugging the heck out of me. I have a short cut of the config on my desk top and check it every once in a while. All of a sudden it will be back at 1024.

2/. What is your monitors screen size , i match my monitor size in FSXA
3/. What do you have your monitor set too in your FSX settings
4/. When you change your monitor size in your fsx.CFG are you saving the changes in notepad before exit
Also could you give more info on your PC operating system I.E. win 7 win 10 ectra , also which version of FSX are you useing , I.E. FSXA,FSXSE,FSX with SP1 and SP2

If you only change your settings directly in the cfg, or by a sim-starter type thing, then it should stay at 4096. If you ever make a change on the in sim sliders it resets to 1024.

Hi,

Something some people might not know, if a texture is saved without mipmaps, this setting in the fsx.cfg is ignored.

^^ This

If you change a setting in the sim then it'll be reverted.

1. As far my PC I enter pasword to start. I am the admin. If that is in admin then yes.?? I have never ran FSX in admin but will try this for awhile and see.
2. 1920x1080.
3. 1920x1080x32. I found this looks the best.
4. Yes I close notepad and say yes to "save changes". I am running Win10 and FSX Acceleration Exspanion.

I never change anything in the sim settings because I'm happy with it the way it is set. This thing has been going on for years, that's why I put a config shortcut on my desktop because I got tired of going to it all the time. Sometimes it may stay 4096 for weeks and sometimes it will change within days. Could the aircraft I pick be doing this? I fly mainly A2A but sometimes Carenado.

I had this 1024 re-set annoyance for years with FSX. It happened whenever I changed a setting in-Sim but also happen randomly as far as I could tell.

Along with some performance improvements It stopped re-setting when I switched to the Steam edition. Best £5 I ever spent.

Cheers.

Steve.

Addendum: I remember I even tried write protecting the .cfg file. Can't remember what happened now. Too long ago.

Per Steve of Steve's DX10 scenery fixer there is no way to avoid FSX changing back to 1024. the scenery fixer has been a big help with getting my very old system to run great. The fixer has a drop down menu that allows to to reconfigure FSX including the display setting.
