XP-82 - Twin Mustang (!!!)

Post by Medtner »

I saw a video a few months back of some airplane-related stuff, and saw in the background what looked like two P-51s parked rediculously close together. A closer look revealed that they seemed to be indeed connected.
Quick research revealed the XP-51. I didn't know about this wonderful creation, and my jaw dropped to the center of the earth, magma and all.

A newly restored XP-51 has been debuted at Oshkosh:

Small AVweb piece on the plane:

Cockpit footage of startup, taxi, takeoff, airwork, landing. Wonderful stuff.

A2A? Pretty please? With sugar on top? :P

All the Accusim-planes are in my hangar, but they aren't sitting long enough for their engines to cool much before next flight!

I'm probably alone, but I always thought it was hideous. They took a thing of beauty and made a Frankenstein's monster out of it. Functional, maybe, but...ick.
