The tittle of the video its wrong, cos this is a Ted Smith Aerostar 600...... not a PIPER Aerostar 600............. this was the first model of the Aerostar series, the mighty 600... like the one that Scott have !

Fun video. BTW this is a 1980 600A, which is made by Piper. Mine is a 1969 600 made by Ted Smith. Just have to get the A2A Aerostar back in the air....

Also, they said 350hp a side, it's 290hp a side.

Hi Buffy

a while ago, Erik reminded us about Flying Doodles. So I got my fix, but, but but forgot to check it out occasionally. If it weren't for you Buffy I would have missed out on this absolute peach, on the Aerostar 600. THANK YOU from England.

As usual, this 17 minutes video has terrific visual quality; "you are in there, along with these guys!". Initially, I thought I was just going to listen to the super-cool pilot talk about his plane by the hangar door. That would have been satisfying just in itself. Then, after an advert, up up and away. WOW! WOW! WOW!

But you are so cruel Buffy. Now I just cannot, CANNOT wait to own and cruise Aerostar, zippy or what!, Birmingham to Channel Islands OR Birmingham to Inverness. Aaaaarrrrgghhh!

What a fab plane. Yet another brilliant, world-class choice of plane by Scott!

3 views this am; might have to be daily!

Did anyone notice the fantastic sound from those engines?
I, for one, can’t wait to hear the sound of those engines in AccuSim. To be able to work on synchronization between the engines via sound, and also to have two distinct engines with two different personalities.

Bring the A2A Aerostar to life! :)

All the Accusim-planes are in my hangar, but they aren't sitting long enough for their engines to cool much before next flight!

Seems like a fun and very high power airplane. I’m not sure I like the looks though to be honest. I think the gear looks a bit weird to me. Very high and thin due to the midwing configuration.

I’m sure the simulation will be outstanding though.

No sure what exactly happened here....he said he was coming in too fast...so he raised the gear???? I'm sure I'm miss understanding something...why in the world would you not just go around? Was he rolling out on the ground when he raised the gear?

He forgot to put the gear down entirely. It's not hard - I did it again in the A2A B-17 on Sunday. :D

Well, maybe he did put the gear down. I don't remember this but his story was that the gear was down but had already been retracted before the plane comes into view in the video because he was going around, he pulled the flaps up and the plane dropped eight feet. Seems plausible.

Check out those props!
