I'll be dropping into KOXC tomorrow to check out the D-Day squadron before they head over to England in preparation for the events commemorating the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
I watched a smaller formation drop their paratroopers onto the grounds at KFDK this past weekend and it was pretty amazing and far louder than I expected.
Anyone else in the area planning on stopping by?

Man I would love to see that. That’s some amazing sights. And I’m afraid it’s gonna be a once in a lifetime opportunity. But it’s a bit far from Germany
I hope you get to enjoy this!
Happy flying

Yes but the actual event is a LOT closer to Germany!

I know I know. But it’s still not just around the corner unfortunately. I won’t be able to make it. I’m sure that would be a very emotional amazing experience.
Is anyone here planning on going to the D-Day anniversary?

It's defiantly on my bucket list! I had made plans to go to the 60th before I had kids and chickened out since it was going to cost me so much. I kick myself, there would have been so many veterans there. Sadly this wont be the case for too much longer before my kids are out of the house and I can go.

Some video of the proceedings at KOXC. I barely made it into the airport and was the last aircraft allowed to land as the tower stopped all landing traffic until the Dakota's departed.
I didn't get to pick a good spot on the field, hope you enjoy!
As you can see the kids next to me were having a great time! I wish I had parents like theirs. From the found of it, their grandpa was having a heck of a time aboard one of those C-47s!
