The Nuremberg raid 75 years on.

This is the place where we can all meet and speak about whatever is on the mind.

The Nuremberg raid 75 years on.

Post by Paul K »

I doubt this will get much reaction across the pond, but it's worth a mention for the UK and Commonwealth members here. Tonight (30/31 March ) marks the 75th anniversary of the disastrous raid on Nuremberg, during which 95 Bomber Command aircraft were shot down, and a further 10 written off afterwards. In this one night, the RAF lost 545 aircrew; more than in the entire Battle of Britain. Among them was Halifax flight engineer Christopher Panton, to whose memory the museum at East Kirkby and their soon-to-be-airworthy Lancaster 'Just Jane' are dedicated.
