Formula 1 2019 Season

Post by Lewis - A2A »

A bit late this year with the thread but here we are the start of what looks to be a very exciting racing season.

I don't know about other F1 fans but I thought the Ozzie Qualy was super exciting and even though the order at the top is similar to last year it is exciting to know at least this means two way fight and RedBull are a lot stronger than I thought they would be with the Honda power this year.

Mid-field wise is just totally WOW. This is going to be so exciting to see how this turns out, Norris up in 8th already and Sainz same speed but only not up there due to Kubica's tire blow out is very exciting for McLaren, Haas able to make good on last years lost points at the Oz GP who knows, all so damn close! Loving it and after watching it live this morning I am looking forward to getting up before sun up to watch it live early tomorrow. Not having the kids and essentially having an utterly clear calender's this weekend has been accidental timing but more god it adds to the excited

Hopefully some of the other A2A and F1 fans can post here as I'm the only racer on the team so everyone just glosses over when I talk F1. The closest I have on the team as Mike P who enjoys a bit of rally and Michal K who enjoys hot lapping road cars, but no interest in the F1 series.

thanks,
Lewis

Thanks to Liberty Media, the Formula 1 YouTube channel has been very active since 2017.
Even when i'm not watching the races it's nice to have the highlights for every step of the week end race :)
It was nice enjoying all the 2018 drama on so many comment sections

I hope the best for Leclerc ! A lot of fresh blood on the grid, but it might as well be the 6th title for Hamilton already

Not really a fan but just happened to catch a show on Netflix about the 2018 season which concentrated on the middle of the field drivers and of course the troubled Williams team. I was surprised how much I got into it and when my router cut out right before the last race started I cursed so loud my wife stumbled out of the bedroom with a gun in her hand because she had been sleeping, LOL.(Only kidding about the gun)

One would think the team drivers would work together to block the cars behind them as they move forward through the pack but the pressures on the drivers to get points along with their competitive nature sort of throws that out the window to the point where there were accidents that caused both team drivers to crash and be out of the race. Crazy in an exciting kind of way although I'm sure the team owners aren't to happy about it.

I liked the Red Bull and Hass teams and was rooting for Daniel Ricciardo myself and hoped he would stay with Red Bull but he ended up moving to Renault, he should have stayed with Red Bull but I could understand why he wanted the change but unless Renault made some big changes to their engines who knows and it might take him some time to get used to the car.

I look forward to staying with it this year but the coverage in the States isn't the greatest unless you pay extra. Barring any unforeseen circumstances I would expect Mercedes and Ferrari to be on top which make the middle of the pack the most exciting. So there is my layman's view and I hope to catch the race tomorrow or at least the highlights. Hope you all enjoy this season.
Take care, Brett

Loved the race this morning, up nice and mega early then went back to bed till midday hahaha

Cracking race, nice to see it nice and close, and post race already soem reasons why Bottas was able to run away and safe to say that part will be closer next time. Good to see Red Bull up there and so surprising to see Honda turn it around from back of grid to front all of a sudden! Time will tell though I guess if they are reliable over multiple races, as the issues Renault had they are nothing compared to the Honda issues in the past few years.

Great drive from Bottas, shame about Leclarec not taking Vettel and asking for permission rather than forgiveness like a true racer but exciting to see whats to come.

The real test of course will be a more representative track such as the next race in 2 weeks. Cannot wait

thanks,
Lewis

Everything Lewis says!

Seems the other Lewis had rear floor damage.

Quote from Matia Binotto in Motorsport.com
"I think 10 laps to the end, we decided not to take any risks and hold positions, bring the cars home and score points."

In pre-season, new team boss Binotto had made it clear Vettel would be prioritised early on in the season if the situation required it, as he is Ferrari's initial title focus.

But Binotto said instructing their drivers to hold position in Melbourne was neither "difficult" nor a "decision" that Ferrari had to make, because it did not make sense to let them risk fighting when it was not for the win."

Disappointing to see Ferrari openly favouring Vettel and protecting him when he didn't have as much grip after his pit stop as expected - especially in the early stages when it isn't that vital.

Agreed it is mental from Ferrari, and if it comes toward the end of the season and LeClerc is in front and needing points it will be a dish served cold for Ferrari

To quote some youtube comments on the F1 channel:

"Ferraris are red
Red Bulls are blue
The rest of the grid is dead
Another Mercedes one-two"
