S05 Getting some upgrades

Hello all,
There has been some construction going on at my local airport, S05. I snapped some photos and thought I would share. There are new runway lights going in and some NAV equipment but I could not find out just what equipment that would be. I'll do more digging as time permits.

My first delivery a week ago and sitting on 16 getting my concrete tested.




Pouring one of the runway light bases.




We poured 18 light bases on the East side and are now turning around to pick up a few more.
Notice the weather change from an hour earlier at 16?




Today I'm second truck and waiting for Dave to finish at the threshold of 34.




At 34 rodding the mud. They are a great crew. Darby Guido Construction.




My turn now at 16 and ready to lay down some mud.




South of mid-field looking at the club house and maintenance shop where Frank's Flight Service turns wrenches.
This rock pad is where the NAV aids will be going from what I'm told.




And of coarse we have to finish the series off with a selfie. It has been real fun so far but I have not gotten the chance to chat with anyone who really knows the details of what all is happening.



Enjoy the slides. It's something I have never been evolved in before so I was just a little excited

Well, if you fly in to S05 expecting a burger at the airport you will be disappointed. Growing up I remember fly-ins and other functions happening at the airport but I think you will be hard-pressed to find any kind of activity there now except for the mechanics working on planes. There are, however, several good burger joints in town about a mile north on HWY 101.

The most activity S05 gets is golfers arriving and departing in their private jets to hit the coarse at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.
