Update problems

Post by Dugald »

I've recently had to re-install FSX-SE, and the subsequent re-installation of the C172, C182, Cherokee, and Comanche appeared to be successful. However, when I try to update these aircraft using A2A_Update_10_12_17, the operation hangs during the "Removing temporary files" stage. I have to use Task Manager to escape from the updater. The Windows Even Log shows the following information:

General:
The program A2AUpdate.exe version 2.6.18.4 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

The aircraft all seem fine after the aborted update, but (apart from the "updating" notice during the update operation) I don't know whether the updates have gone to completion. I did use the updater without any problems in FSX-SE before my recent re-installation. Can you offer any suggestions, or reassurance that all is well?

Secondly, I use a 4K monitor, and I find it very difficult to read the 2D panels because the print is too small. Is there any way to change the size of the panels and of the printed information?

Thank you,
Dugald

Hello,

Have you executed the Accu-Sim updater as "Administrator"? It might be an issue, if the installer has not enough privileges.

Thanks. Yes, I did run it as administrator.

The silence is deafening! Fortunately (?), I've had to re-install Win10 and my simulator bits and pieces, and that has fixed the problem. However, the response to this problem makes me think that it might be safest to stick with my current list of 7 A2A titles.

Hello,

sorry for the delay and glad to hear your OS issue is fixed.

Please next time post in one of the tech support forums, you will notice that they are checked daily and have priority over all the standard community areas on the forums.

thanks,

Which tech support forum for a problem that relates to the updater, which is downloaded from the very forum in which I posted my call for help? It affected ALL of my A2A aircraft except the P3D Spitfire, so this seemed the logical place to post it. And you mention that the tech support forums are checked daily, but my original post was made 12 days ago, and I would expect the other forums to be looked at occasionally. After all, you did reply within hours when I complained.

Thank you,
Dugald

Any of the tech support areas would be good. Its a super busy time atm as we just released a new product so tech support forums do take priority. as the others can build up quickly.

thanks,
