Please read if you can't uninstall with 'old' installers

Post by Nick - A2A »

Dear all,

A few customers have reported they're unable to uninstall A2A products which were installed with the original (Wise Solutions, Inc.) installers. If you're seeing the "Could not open INSTALL.LOG" error message when you try to uninstall, the following steps should hopefully allow you to get round this issue.
  1. Open a command prompt (you can access the command prompt by right clicking the Windows 10 Start Button or by typing "cmd" in the search box).
  2. Type in the following command and press enter: cd C:\Users\[YourUserName]\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A\A2A\Cessna172
  3. Then type the following command and press enter: unwise.exe wos_c172.log
Note that the path shown above is the default installation path, so you may need to customise it if you installed to a different location. Also, if you've installed to a different drive, you'll need to change the command prompt to the correct drive letter before you type the "cd " command. To do this, just type the relevant drive letter followed by a colon, e.g. "E:" into the command prompt. The default path and command for each Accu-Sim product for Prepar3D v4 is as follows:

Cessna 172
cd C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A\A2A\Cessna172
unwise.exe wos_c172.log

Cherokee 180
cd C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A\A2A\Cherokee180
unwise.exe wos_cherokee180.log

Cessna 182
cd C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A\A2A\Cessna182
unwise.exe c182.log

Comanche 250
cd C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A\A2A\Comanche250
unwise.exe co250.log

T-6 Texan
cd C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A\A2A\T6
unwise.exe t6.log

L-049 Constellation
cd C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\A2A\A2A\L049
unwise.exe l049.log

The image below shows these commands for my installation (using the C182 as an example):

For anyone who ends up having to follow these extra steps, apologies for the inconvenience. It's probably caused by modifications to the OS and/or Windows registry since installation.

Thanks,
Nick

I just keep getting the error message unwise.exe is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Sounds like the directory you're pointing to isn't correct, or the file has been manually removed. Which directory did you install to originally?

Thanks,
Nick

Okay, thanks. So (to use the example of the T-6) the two commands in your case should be:

cd E:\Prepar3d v4 Add-ons\A2A\A2A\T6
unwise.exe t6.log

If this still doesn't work, please can you check to see what files are in the "E:\Prepar3d v4 Add-ons\A2A\A2A\T6" directory?

Regards,
Nick

I have noticed that with the exception of the C172, all the other aircraft have the unwise.exe file in.

Hmm - are you typing the commands into the Command Prompt exactly as shown? A simple typo in the change directory command could cause the issue you're describing.

Thanks,
Nick

Partial success, I have managed to run the uninstallers with Cessna 182, Cherokee180, Comanche250, L049 and T6. The Cessna 172 has no uninstall files.

Okay, thanks for the update. Sounds like the files for the 172 may have been manually removed at some point, so please can you just manually delete the leftover A2A folder in E:\Prepar3d v4 Add-ons.

If you wish to install the Accu-Sim products to a different directory using the new installers, you'll need to launch P3D once before starting the new installation process as described here.

Thanks,
Nick
