Woodhall Spa 1940s weekend

Post by norfolkmike »

I just wanted to share a couple of shots (or more) from the 40s weekend, as once again, the town reverberated with the sound of Merlins and our 'English Rose's' were out in all their finery. For the non historians, Woodhall Spa is a small town in Lincolnshire, and Lincolnshire itself, during hostilities, was known as "Bomber County". Woodhall Spa is also home to the Petwood Hotel, in which the crews of the Dambusters raid were billeted. Each Summer, (together with many English towns), Woodhall Spa hosts a 1940s weekend, where the sights and sounds of the Second World War 'home front' are recreated.
