Now, given the new update, we have some answers (the Bonanza), but also some teasing questions.
Here's what I gleaned from the video on the secret project:
1. "New Accusim Engine".
- Could this be the jet/super-sonic physics that A2A has been researching for years?
2. Oxygen.
- The sound of masks gives some indications.
- "Settle at 18 thousand"
3. Jet-trainer?
- "You've got the aircraft" - instructor, not a give-away, but an indication.
- "Set power and trim for 90 knots" - at 18k. this could be a trainer. T-33?
Sounds like the dawn of a new age to me!

I’ll have to listen again. Are we sure 18,000 and 90 knots are from the same clip?

90 indicated? Isn't that a possible stall-speed for a small jet-trainer?AKar wrote:Medtner wrote:- Could this be the jet/super-sonic physics that A2A has been researching for years?...at 90 knots? Perhaps not a jet.Medtner wrote:- "Settle at 18 thousand" [...]

Re: The secret airplane in development
I can't think of but few jet-powered airplanes, and hardly any in scope of A2A development that I'd bet for, that would be regularly settled and trimmed for 90 knots. For T-33 as an example, the touchdown speed is quoted at approximately 90-100 kts.Medtner wrote:90 indicated? If it was a jet, it would likely be an U-2. How cool would that be! (Even that stalls at roughly around 80 kts if I recall, or perhaps a tad under.)

You know A2A, they want to try out the edge of the envelope.AKar wrote:I can't think of but few jet-powered airplanes, and hardly any in scope of A2A development that I'd bet for, that would be regularly settled and trimmed for 90 knots. If not a jet-trainer, what else could be trimmed for 90 knots at 18k, with an instructor, in masks, that is new Accusim-tech, that is so secret?

Yeah he said 90 knots. I am thinking new Accu-sim "engine" that he mentions might be for the onboard oxygen bottles and such that everyone has been asking for. Might be completely revamping the backside of the engine for the oxygen starvation physics, and things like that.

I'd figure any non-pressurized turbo, or perhaps a turboprop trainer, however, these would not justify for all the drama around unexpected opportunities and mystery projects, I'd think. And this talk of different release channel... go figure!Medtner wrote:If not a jet-trainer, what else could be trimmed for 90 knots at 18k, with an instructor, in masks, that is new Accusim-tech, that is so secret?
Can't quickly think of anything obvious - outside that U-2 that is!

Re: The secret airplane in development
How about testing the new jet under slow flight?
Re: The secret airplane in development
Plausible if you find one that settles down that slow, presumably at constant altitude.afcraig2010 wrote:How about testing the new jet under slow flight?

Re: The secret airplane in development
Aermacchi MB-339 has a stall speed of 80 knot according to wikipedia... l-39 albatross 84 knots... plausible.. but i don't think so... If you use additional oxygen in GA planes, would it cause such breathing sound? It sounds a bit like a facemask, that would speak indeed for a jet... ?
Re: The secret airplane in development
18000 is the ceiling for a bonanza v35.
You would need oxygen for prolonged flight at 18000.Regarding the sound of a breathing mask, this is quite feasable for the Bonanza with the kit advertised here

Re: The secret airplane in development
Characteristic breathing sound is typically a result of using throat microphones, mostly indeed associated with breathing masks.Alfredson007 wrote:Aermacchi MB-339 has a stall speed of 80 knot according to wikipedia... l-39 albatross 84 knots... plausible.. but i don't think so... Hi
I am missing a mention of the Piper Aerostar - or is this the secret project? 18000/90 also possible for the Aerostar.
Keep on waiting for a really good twin engined bird (non carabeo )

Re: The secret airplane in development
Just a disclaimer - Scott hasn't told me anything about the trip, so I'm guessing as much as everyone else.
I'm going to say P-51C. Fits with the throat/inbuilt mask mic, 18K @ 90 knots, and him being in Austin at the same time as the Collings Foundation.
