Any sign of a Cheyenne on the horizon ?

Post by Gabe777 »

....or will I have to enter the bargain basement world of Carenado ?

Ouch.

The more I fly my humble C183 the more I realise that so many other addons are just toys.

My problem is that I have a soft spot for the old Cheyenne 11, with just steam gauges and a gps.

Hi Gabe,

As another Cheyenne aficionado - I don’t think so - I haven’t heard any mention of an A2A Turboprop... Your choice is down to the Carenado Cheyenne II or the recently released Cheyenne III... A gentleman on AvSim ported the FDE from Digital Aviation to the II which I’ve been enjoying for a while now - so at least it flys like an old friend... It’s got a couple issues but it’s really not that bad - granted it uses the faulted default turboprop model so you need to take the FDE with a grain of salt - and the trim indicator spins in the wrong direction - but I find it enjoyable... I haven’t tried the new III myself...

Regards,
Scott

Hmmmm..... can't believe they bring out the 42 111 while bugs still exist in the 31 11. Typical really.

I like my old DA Cheyenne but I really want to use the GTN 750. May see if I can find a shoe horn for it.

Is the 111 better on fps performance given they got rid of the horrid Avidyne glass... and is there a 2mb texture option ?

Thanks Scott.

Any sign of a Cheyenne on the horizon ?

Post by scottb613 »

Hi Gabe,

I had the DA Cheyenne working in P3Dv3 - I removed the Trimble and replaced it with a GTN650... It was a little scrunched in the space available but it did work... A few caveats - the spinners turn almost black as it has a mirror finish - I messed with the textures but I couldn’t improve them... The recognition lights turn into flat little white plates at a distance and don’t look very good... Other than that old Cheyenne from FS9 in P3D... Now that I’m on V4 - I don’t think it will work anymore at 64 bit... It’s a shame they never updated it as it was truly a favorite - could only imagine it with modern 3rd party navigation equipment and the REX Wx Radar...

Scott

Real shame.

Nicest cockpit ever. The lighting even in daylight was sublime, and that row of switches over the top..... to die for !

Unfortunately too many developers are totally constrained by finances.

The number of times I've heard Aerosoft say "there is no money in it ".

Guess that's life. :(

It looks nice. But I would really like a Accusim version !

I've said it before and I'll say it again.... when I win the lotto I'll pay A2A to make the Cheyenne, and PMDG to make an ATR 72 500. Many people would thank me.

I have the Aerosoft one. It is pretty good. A2A have had no new plane releases since 2016 where they had the T6 and the Constellation.

Even if one was in the works they wouldn’t tell us until about a week before release. The only thing I can say as a negative about the company. Otherwise they crush everything else. Products are phenomenal and revolutionize the hobby, customer service is incredible, employees are just down to earth nice guys.

Yes I know.

3 of their a/c are on my Top 5 wishlist.

Think Im going for the old J41 for now. After A2A I dont think I can cope with a Carenado.

Prolly get the Comanche for Xmas and the B17 for New Years.

Pretty sure they will do a 25% discount at Xmas and New Years...................... hint hint !

Ive calculated that 'upgrading' to P3D v4 will cost me about 700 bucks inclufing a new ssd drive, so Im putting it on hold.....maybe until v5, which no doubt theyll charge for. Im just gonna get thrm for FSX and worry about P3D as and when.

No plans for the aircraft at the moment, the names come up before but anything like that is still not even pencil on paper.
