Updating P3D

Post by thunderstreak »

Forgive me if this has already been discussed, I am new to P3D and could use a little clarification.
I have P3Dv4 and have just updated the "Client" portion to 4.1.
If I was to update the "Scenery" and "Content" portion am I correct in assuming that I would have to uninstall and reinstall all add on scenery and aircraft?
Is there a work around for this or is every update going to be a major event?

I realize this isn't an A2A related question, just hoping the members here have some experience with this!

Thanks!

I updated all 3, and didn’t experience any issues (that I’m aware of) but would be interested in hearing from others. I have ORBX products and several add-ons and did not uninstall/install them prior to upgrading.

Your add-on aircraft are in a different directory structure and should not be affected. But I too was (still am?) concerned about scenery and possibly the way the scenery hierarchy is in the configuration.

Regarding scenery. I use ORBX scenery and found this post on what to do if I update the Content or Scenery modules.
