Well, sort of... The 64bit processor in your system may not have been build by AMD, but its instruction set sure is based on an AMD design. AMD made the first move into 64bit territory by creating a 64bit instruction set (for their Opteron processors) based on the well known Intel x86 32 bit instruction set. Intel later tried to establish a completely new designed 64 bit instruction set (Itanium), that had no ties to the old x86 architecture - but it only caught on in the server world. So for our desktop machines, the 64 bit processors are based on the AMD 64 bit instruction set form back then.
