P3D v4 & New Features for A2A products?

Post by caribpilot »

With P3D v4 making it possible for new features to be added to add-on aircraft, will A2A be updating some of their P3D compatible products with any new features? Or perhaps explore options that would have been nice, but impossible to deliver with FSX limitations?

As an example, TFDI just releases TrueGlass which brings realistic VC rain/ice effects to P3D. For years, this is a feature that has been requested numerous times throughout the community. Also, with P3D being 64bit, would this allow A2A to add more features or perhaps enhance aircraft models? As an example, the Constellation doesn't really have passenger windows and I was always curious as to why this was done. I'm assuming it saves on performance by not modelling an interior model, but now that performance issues are reduced with P3D v4, will some of these "compromises" be revisited?

Hello,

yes we will be moving forward as platforms move forward, but there will always be limitations and just because v4 supports x,y,z doesn't mean its always going to be a good idea to use all of them as you'll find yourself back at the settings screen turning stuff down again just like pre-v4 in a heartbeat. Key to game development is always optimisation and making things look good but also run great, its a magic ingredient that we put very high on our list.

thanks,
Lewis

I tested the new P3D v4.1 VC rain effect last night over NYC with nearly everything on max settings, zero FPS hit. Hint hint... :D

Good to know that A2A will be moving forward. It's understood that there will always be limitations, but at least now A2A can offer even more realism visually and otherwise.
