I have lost engine sounds on my A2A aircraft. All my other aircraft have no problem.
I know there is a fix for this but I can't find it.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

The volume there was set at 100% so that is not it.
The weird thing is, it is only with A2A aircraft. My other planes are all fine. I have uninstalled and re-installed my A2A aircraft.
Thanks for the thought.

Re: No engine sounds
Have you deleted the update client files and re-installed the updates?
Is your Windows default sound device plugged in and turned on and not muted?

Not sure what you mean regarding the update client files. Also don't understand, "Windows default Decide"

Re: No engine sounds
Tom,
I think Oracle meant to type "default sound device" but auto-correct had other ideas! In other words, the Accu-Sim (i.e. engine) sounds play through whatever audio device is the Windows default; this may be different to the device that you have configured to play other sounds in FSX.
Cheers,
Nick

Re: No engine sounds
Nick has it right (thanks).
I'm not at my workstation, but if you reinstalled the software you now need to manually delete a file in the update folder of each aircraft to have the updates applied again.
If you run the updater without deleting the update client files, it may consider all your software to be updated. This assumes that all of the software was fully updated prior to the reinstall.

Re: No engine sounds
Yes, the 'client' files you'll want to delete are located as follows Tom (using the example of the T-6 in FSX):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\FSX\A2A\T6\Update_fsx\client.wyc
You'll have to do this for each of your A2A add-ons. It's not related to the sound issue, it's just that because you reinstalled over an updated installation, you won't be able to re-update unless you get rid of those 'client' files.
Cheers,
Nick

Hmm! Auto-correct again Mr Oracle?Oracle427 wrote:[...] it might consider all your suitcase to be updated [...]
Re: No engine sounds
Ughhh, the issue is the that the autocorrect is applied only when the focus is taken off the text.
Sometimes it applies a correction at the point when I click 'submit'. Worse yet, it also attempts to make corrections based on context, even if the spelling of all the words is correct. One of these days I'll figure out how to turn this "feature" off.

Re: No engine sounds
I am about to quit on this. I did delete the client.wyc but this had n effect. I have no sound in other aircraft. I have taken a major step backwards.
I will now try to repair FSX Acceleration.

Re: No engine sounds
Tom - have you checked the status of your Windows audio playback device(s) as suggested above. If you provide a bit more info on the hardware you're using to play sounds, it'll be easier for us to help.

Thanks for your help. The good news is I think I found the problem. I somehow had stumbled into using a Digital Audio (s/pdif) device. As soon as I got back to a basic High Definition device it seems everything is cured......At least the last time I tried it was working...grin
Thanks to everyone for your support. It is getting pretty hard for me to think these things out now.

Good to hear you're sorted Tom and thanks for letting us know.

I dunno - I rather like it. The "suitcase" really had me guessing!Oracle427 wrote:One of these days I'll figure out how to turn this "feature" off.
