Hey guys,
Lately I have been going back to the trusty old Cherokee for IAP practice. IMHO one of the finest little gems for IFR practice. So stable, and old school enough to make you do the work you should be doing anyway, for the sake of practice at least. What are your favorite or the challenging IAPs you enjoy?
For practice, unless there is a SID, I usually just fly the Missed Approach for a particular IAP for the departure, then direct to the IAF and shoot the approach. To find approaches, I usually go on to Skyvector, look for the IMC areas, then pick a random approach, but these are some of my favorites.
A couple of my favorites are the Martin State KMTN VOR/DME 15 approach.

The other night I did some at Tivat LYTV (great freeware LYTV scenery from Skyhigh Sim too) that were awesome ...requiring multiple NDBs, ILS backcourse for DME, IDing fixes with cross radials...great stuff. You can do a whole circuit, fly one of the NIK SIDS, then direct to POD for the STAR, then one of the NDB approaches. Do it 'Old School' too for the extra challenge...turn off the AP and that TV screen GPS (or at least turn it to a non essential page), and fly it with CDI needles, NDB pointers, timers, and your wits!

What are some of your favorite approaches?
