Next A2A Accusim project?

Post by thunderstreak »

Just wondering out loud here what A2A's next Accusim project will be?
So far there is a nice variety of GA aircraft from Piper and Cessna.
The mighty NA T-6 and Boeing B-17.
Fighters from North American, Supermarine, Curtiss and Republic.
Classic propliners from Boeing and Lockheed.

I'm excited to see what's next, perhaps another classic from Beechcraft or Douglas?
Maybe something more modern or obscure?

A2A have been talking about a GA twin, probably staring with a Seminole. I'm really hoping that this or something similar will be the next release as I think this could be a real learning exercise. But don't take this as gospel at all. We've been surprised by quite a few releases. :D

My fingers are crossed for a GA twin - and I'd much rather have the Seminole than the Aerostar.

Next on my wishlist would be a tundra/amphibious/ski Super Cub. It deserves the newest A2A Accusim tech.

I'm guessing, but probably, somewhere at A2A HQ they already know what the next project is, a GA twin is my guess?

Whatever they do, I'll be buying.

Love A2A products.

Seminole would be my choice as well. In fact any GA twin will do, but I think it should be a common one, so all the real world pilots can tell us armchair pilots if it's any good :)
Kind Regards
Tomas

Yep, if I were going to put money on logic, I would bet on a Seminole, followed by the Aerostar. Then again, I bet they were going to come out with a V35 after the Cherokee (it seemed logical at the time lol), and if it were real money, I would have lost money! Instead of the seemingly logical V-35, A2A surprised us with the 182 instead, so never bet on 'logic' with A2A releases. They have a knack for surprising us. (Pleasantly of course!)

The first Accusim twin could be a CriCri for all we know.

Tho if any developer should announce a CriCri, it should be PMDG, even just as a prank, can you imagine their big tubeliner fanbase reacting to one of Robert's 'official' Avsim threads [15MAY17] PMDG announces PMDG CriCri!!..watching the fallout would be amusing to say the least. Robert has a good sense of humor so I can totally see him doing something like that with a straight face.

Speaking of pranks, maybe Scott will get some ideas for a great 'prank' release video, something like that would make for a great April Fools gag. If you were going to do a prank release gag, what plane would you prank release announcement with?

I would go with...
CriCri
Spruce Goose
Lunar Module
Snoopy's Doghouse
X-Wing

Have you seen those Star Citizen spaceship advertisements that play out like car commercials. I can totally see Scott doing something like that as a gag, maybe even get one of the staff to even do the just a visual model shell for the video. Cue the 'music'...Scott does the car commercial voice talking about making needing to make the Kessel Run....Millennium Falcon flashes by on the screen....you know, good stuff like that would almost be worth it for a laugh.

Hey Scott, if you IMed and said 'Hey TJ, if you buy another Accusim plane (like as a gift for someone or something cause I got em all already), I'll make a prank release video!'....I would SERIOUSLY consider that. I am a big fan of comedy and good gags. I think laughter is one of the best medicines there is.

I think they are working on a GA multi-engine aircraft. I think also they are working on the T33 which will be their first Accusim Jet engine.

The only relief we will get is knowing that when the next aircraft is announced, it should be in beta and fairly close to release. Personally i prefer the method from several years ago where every august i think it was, we got an accusim update video showing us things in progress and new technologies implemented. I know they think they got burned by announcing the f4 but i think everyone understands things change.

I've been looking about for a Seminole on the wide world of web lately, as we can't be sure when or if A2A will release an Accusim GA twin. There seem to be a few payware options from WSS and Alabeo/Carenado, but given a couple of previous purchases from the latter, I'd be reluctant to buy. I can't even feather the props in my Carenado C-377, and it seems the "feathered" prop still windmills without causing any extra drag  so I'd be reluctant to part with my hard earned for this rendition. The WSS attempt is a few years old and doesn't get a brilliant write up either, though it is cheaper and might be enjoyable if I could pick it up in a sale. I'd be interested in other people's thoughts on this.

Thankfully, I have found and old freeware model which is interesting to fly. Look for "fsxpipsm.zip" at Flightsim.com if you're interested. It works in FSXSE, although the graphics are very old, and you can simulate engine out quite well, or at least better than I've so far been able to with payware twins. There's a couple of strange things like flap operation, but that's easily fixable. It's a bit of fun for nix.

Mike

Do you remember how we all thought after the batch of warbirds, when A2A announced the 172?...we were all thinking...Civil P-51 to 172 is like Shelby Cobra to Prius...but you know, they did it, I don't know Scott's final sales numbers on the 172, but it was probably A2A's biggest seller. And then they did the Cherokee, we were thinking ok, you went from a PRius to a Ford Escort...but, that mundane little Cherokee is special, that it even outshines the Comanche in some ways.

So the point is, yeah the Seminole isn't an A-26 or Martin 404, it isn't even an Aerostar, but its a great plane, and when run through the Accusim machine, you will have to deal with the best simulated twin ever brought to FS, it will be the perfect building block to understanding and the enjoying eventual high performance GA, Warbird and COTS twins.

Cheers
