Could we do pre-orders in the store?

This is the place where we can all meet and speak about whatever is on the mind.

Could we do pre-orders in the store?

Post by Mig_Driver »

Since the Cherokee's coming out soon...

I know the meme has been posted a lot... "Shuddup and take my money!"

Would anybody else be in on this? Or if there was some form of liability issues, I'd understand.

What's the point of pre-ordering something that is not limited?

I would happily pre pay for the Cherokee too or any A2A release for that matter.

I can understand if A2A wouldn't do pre pay. Prepay can bring a big headache and added pressure on them if things don't go right. Remember how much flak VRS got with the Tacpak prepay? Even tho VRS is a bit of an extreme example since their prepay was started a wee bit early, while tackpak was still early in development. There is still a remote possibility of a bug popping up or a glitch here or there that could delay release. Besides there is only a week and a half until 'the end of the month'. :D

I don't like the idea of pre-ordering. All it would take is for the development to take longer than expected and then people who pre-ordered would start complaining since they already paid.

Excellent points, all, and mostly ones I had not considered. I'd still do it though :-)

Hehe, in any case it's high praise indeed for A2A that some of us would like to preorder. :D

I see your point, but I view it as financing R&D. I'd happily pre-pay for a Grumman amphibians so that the team can do more extensive testing, sort of like a Kickstarter for the plane.
System Specs:
Intel i7-2600 @ 4.3GHz, ASUS P8P67-Deluxe, 8GB DDR3-1600, ATI Radeon HD7770 (2GB), OCZ Vertex 250GB SSD (OS), Seagate 1TB HDD (Data)
FSX w/Acceleration and tons of add-ons.

I'd like 24 hrs notice prior to release so we can break records with number of units sold in 1st hour.

The only thing that will be broken by such a notice will be the availability of the website and the content servers. They would get hammered over capacity and many people wouldn't be able to buy it at all for the first couple of hours or so. I know that A2A upgraded the servers, but if my experience with long-awaited releases over the years has taught me one thing then it's that no capacity increase is sufficient to meet the demand when everyone pounces on the release at once.
