Accu-sim Cherokee enters Beta testing
Re: Accu-sim Cherokee enters Beta testing
(On the subject of an A2A Comanche...)
(We've all done it, you wake up the next morning and find that you've bought something on ebay you forgot about....)
I notice in the update thread that Scott said its a 1965 Piper Cherokee 180. So, I've been checking videos on YouTube.
Want new shiny thing
Okay, so we just need Scott to get really drunk and buy himself a LancLewis - A2A wrote:Yes it makes sense for us to eventually do the aircraft we own.

Video in the works right now. Scott's produced another cracking video and will be the first glimpses of the Cherokee in sim.

Re: Accu-sim Cherokee enters Beta testing
Ooo, thanks Lewis, great news.
Did I see from one of the pictures that the Cherokee has the elevator trim gauge on the roof? That looks a bit awkward even with Track IR. Maybe it'll be alright.
I'm still practising circuits in the default 172 before going back to risking my A2A one again. This morning as I was taking off I remembered that I hadn't set the trim so tried setting it during takeoff. Stall and a big crash. And that's when the gauge is next to my leg, I'll never cope with it above my head
I understand that this shows a very slap-dash attitude to taking off, but 2 days ago I installed Active Sky Next and this morning it was raining quite hard so it seemed like a great opportunity to try it out.

Re: Accu-sim Cherokee enters Beta testing
tbaac,
It sounds like you need to adjust the setting on your TrackIR. I can get 90 degrees down and at least 80 degrees up on mine. In particular, adjust the yaw and pitch axes; it will make a big difference.
Cheers,
Mike

Re: Accu-sim Cherokee enters Beta testing
I had to adjust my TrackIR to get enough range of view. After that, no problem seing the fire panel, or looking around and seeing the engineers panel in the B377. Really lookking forward to the Cherokee. Can't purchase the Cessna, it would just be too powerful a drug for me, and unfortunately my boss expects me in the office every day...
Re: Accu-sim Cherokee enters Beta testing
Thanks guys. I'm using the cap clip more than the pro-clip most of the time now for Track IR (because I don't need to wear a headset). I find the cap clip is good except in bright sunlight as there's a window behind me.
Regarding range of movement, I can look at the ceiling, the Cessna fuel gauge and out the back window (turning my head) if the clip's in the right place when I press the view reset. But it still strikes me that it will be awkward (and disorientating) to look at the ceiling when flying along. It is what it is I guess but at least in the RW you can feel the aircraft if it moves suddenly.
I'm looking forward to the video that Scott mentioned yesterday
