USS Olympia to be scrapped or sunk as artificial reef!

Post by Ragnar »

I just came across this piece of news as disgusting as anything I've heard in my 66 yrs.
Here's a piece of absolute irreplacable history that unless the public or somebody with really deep pockets steps up will be lost for all time :( :( :( :(

Is that a WWI/ pre-WWII vintage? If so, very egregious.

Edit: It's worse than that, she was Commodore Dewey's flagship during the Battle for Manila Bay and is the world's oldest steel warship still afloat.

At least as an artificial reef, she would serve purpose. As scrap, she'd be melted down. :(

If you think about how many wreck are under the water everywhere.... good steel, and iron (some wood)

back at the good old days... how many crap was pushed down under by the "great heroes"

sometimes there are things that need to be save, but in this world it's time to clean up after ownselves

mankind must fall
